lachsilber motivation? anyone?

Im thinking about swapping all my parts over from my lachsilber car to another alpine or schwartz shell. The lachsilber car has some rust, i cut it all out but still need to put the patches in, its all below the door molding line, but im still curious as to how well it will blend being silver. The bottom of the drivers door is rusted all the way through, im guessing the only way to get it to match correctly as well as repair it propperly would be to cut off 3" up from the bottom and weld in a lower door from a rust free door. Trying to color match a different door on a silver car is pretty much impossible.

The passenger side rocker also needs to be pulled as it is dented in, and the driver side of the rear valence is also fucked up..... other than that the car is clean, and was re sprayed maby 2 years ago.

anyway, who wants to post up some sexy lachsilber cars to get me motivated to finish this car up?

Lachssilber....yes

Lachs is a difficult color to work with, very easy for it to look cloudy and the original paint is probably quite faded. Here's a nice Lachs paint job for motivation:

I seriously need some Lachsilber motivation myself. I know there are a couple members who have swapped motors in their Lach cars.

Lachs is a favorite E30 color of mine, much sharper than Salmon and though it doesn't have quite the 'bite' of Polaris, something about Lachs really brings out the bodylines in M and non-M cars.

Also silver looks drasticly different depending on the light and what colors are around it. My car is pale silver in the morning and almost blue at dusk.

Actually, I think he's right. Our Salmon Silver must have been their Lachssilber.

I was looking for a quart of Lachssilber to do a partial respray on my car, and I could have sworn Salmon and Lachs are both color code 203.

Really? My brother had a Lachs '87 325 that read "lachssilber" (sp?) on the paint code, while I've also seen "salmonsilber" (sp?) on M3's and an '88 325is. The colors always seemed slightly different. Perhaps I'm going crazy!

Any more info on this?


EDIT: I am wrong; Lachs is Salmon. Both are paint code 203 from '88-'89. Brothers '87 325 always seemed a different shade, but perhaps it was a repaint.

According to that, I'm inclined to think that they must have been the same color. I guess Salmon (Lachs) and Sterling were the only two silvers available.

So basicly the 3 silvers around are salmon/lachs, sterling, and polaris
