So, my e30 is going to be outside during this hurricane.
Please just leave That area...
They are saying youll face certain death.
Put the cars in that hanger, load them up with valuables, and go to a safe place...
Face certain death?
I'll take my chances.

^ you can get through it. Just have a lot of floaties and some power bars ready. I would also suggest cementing a poll in the middle of your house and having a large belt to strap you too it. This is what I will do in case of a tornado....don't tell me movies don't teach you anything.
Good luck. We are starting to get rain and some pretty strong gusts over here, have been all day now. I hope you don't loose power, for a week like I did.
I'm counting on my house fairing well because it's brand new and surrounded by larger houses.
Yeah but they don't build houses like they used to and hurricanes are unpredictable when it comes to damage. When hurricane andrew hit florida some 15 years ago there were single houses that were completely demolished but surrounded by several other houses that were untouched.
But I can't blame you for hanging around. The vandals and looters are going to hang around and you can't depend on the police to prevent someone from screwing around with the E30 while you are waiting for permission to return to the area.

That's really why I'm staying. I don't want anyone coming in my house.

It's just now starting to get cloudy and windy here, it's been nice and sunny all morning.... e30 in the garage and the satellite dish off the roof. Main thing is the storm surge, other than that and the possibility of a few tornadoes here and there, it will be like a really bad tstorm
Dude, seriously, be careful. I woke up last night around 4 and heard some SERIOUS howling from the wind. I got up and checked it out. We had winds in the 30-35MPH area last night. The stupid hurricane is still over 200 miles off shore. This sucker is not going to want to go away once it hits land. I've got a real strong feeling that it's not going to dissipate and lose rotational structure for a while.
Ike or w.e its name is is BIGGER than Katrina..like a cat 4(last i checked).. Last Cat 4 i was in was Andrew back in 92 or so..and that shit FUCKED UP the southern parts of Fla. I seriously pray you dont get the shit side of the storm. GL

This whole thing is crazy. I'm counting on my house fairing well because it's brand new and surrounded by larger houses.
Don't count on much. As an engineer I find it troubling that people don't know that structures are not designed to survive 50 or 100 year storms, the intention is for the inhabitants to survive. I just had this conversation with someone else yesterday. In New York the earthquake design requirement are intended simply for the structure to retain integrity long enough for people to escape the building, not for the building to be servicable during or after the storm.
All that being said, good luck and I hope that the storm misses your house and your car entirely.
