      My car

Yes this is my car. I just purchased this car of Recycler.com not a bad price, owner was moving back to NY and his sister made him sell the car. 3 were imported to NY in 1987 from Frankfurt. Two of the other cars were totaled on the highway. The owner paid 30,000 in 1987. The car has performance cam done by BB. I just put a 4.10lsd from a 3.64 open. The car needed new manifold gaskets, brake fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, diff gear oil change. I hope to get it back today from the mechanic. This is my second e30 and I just stumbled on it on Recycler.com

Yes the mechanic is going to check the timing belt. What would happen to the engine if the timing belt broke? would that be it for the engine?

I saw those wheels in person a few weeks back on an old Jetta. Some guy had it in at my work. I want them so bad.

Welcome to the board man, that is a beautiful car you have there. That's definitely a cabrio that I would hate to have a leaky top, that interior is so hot. I'd love to see some more pictures if you have some available.

I demand a better pic of the finned thing in your center console, what is its purpose?

Also 8k is a cheap price, you could half part it out and be way on top. but dont part it!

You need to detail it and buff the paint and take a professional photo shot! the car deserves it.

You should then contact some magazines they will be there quick.

Oh. the thing you are looking on the steering wheel by the consul is an original police radar for speeding. Its out of date but I want to leave it in.

Looks great man, I can't believe the car has 33k miles on it. That radar detector is pretty cool, it's an old BMW Accessories piece, it may even be a legit K40 unit. It's probably not very accurate by today's standards, but its period-correctness is undisputable.

I think kenika was asking about the piece with the slats above you ashtray in the center console. I have seen similar on E24's and E28's, but those were actual functioning vents.

It may be the norm, but I was kind of confused to see the fuel gauge in liters and the speedometer in miles, but I know all euro cars didn't have kilometer speedometers so this may be the case with your car. Also, I noticed some supports right next to both strut housings, I guess that was something that cabrio's had for extra support, not sure, I've never seen it before though.

                      Seriously nice car.

The finned things just look like casset holders to me?

The RPM is dying on the odometer, I think it might be the SI board or the battery. Yes is some kind of a vent in the middle of the console, when I turn on the AC is sucks air in the vent.

                            What is a K40 unit?

about the timing belt, go ahead an replace it. If it breaks, it does terrable things to your engine

Stealth units hidden in or around the instrument cluster are commonly referred to as K40 units. The authentic K40 units are located here. Yours is just an early iteration of the K40 unit, like the one below.
