the car is nicely done but i dont understand why you would restore a newish car like that
I'm surprised he left everything so perfectly stock, I guess that is the main point of any restoration. But a nice S50, S38 or even S62 swap would have been sick ridiculous.
Nice...if anyone's in the market for a astonishingly beautiful 518i (or 520i or whatever it is.)

From a quick thread scan, the motor sort of kind of needed a rebuild, and he was considering sticking in some sort of Alpina motor.
When someone mentioned that he could buy a new one for that kind of money, he said that wold be boring, so I think he was just doing the rebuild to have fun.
That is wicked hot. i wish i had a pic of the e34 m5 my work just sold. 40,561 miles 1993 or 94 i can't remember it was the last year they were made, same color as that. can't remember if it was a 6 or 5 speed. but it was MINT.

If it was the last year of the US 3.6 model, then it was a MY93 with the 5-speed. There were also E34 M5's with the 3.8 liter variation of the S38 and 6-speed manual produced up until July of 1995 released to the rest of the world.
