Top Gear? I seem to recall them saying that a chassis dyno is a "lie detector for engines." They supported this with the claim that it "gives the true horsepower reading." They then went on to criticize the fact that a chassis dyno only found 447 of the Shelby GT500's advertised 500hp. Last I checked an engine dyno was the lie detector, and bhp was different than whp. But they know what they're talking about...sigpicComment

not to mention, every type of chassis dyno will give you a different WHP output with the same car and the same conditions. chassis dynos are for tuning, that is what they are made for and what they are best at. or alternatively, they are for people who want to brag about meaningless peak numbers and imaginary "corrected" crank HP.Originally posted by stegosaurus View PostComment
