That thing does look a lot like the GS35.....only with a Nissan badge. If that's what they plan to offer, the next Skyline will be following in the footsteps of BMWs M3. The original Skyline was badass in many respects....this new one looks to be a lot "softer." As we all know the original M3 (e30) is considered by many the real M3. The latter versions became softer. Cup holders and all.

It's what they *do* offer. It's been out for like 3 years now. It's the same car as we get in the States, just with an Infiniti badge here.

just like the Altezzas - IS300s.
Ive seen bunch of fools with a Skyline badge running around my town. In North America, people praise the R34 GTRs like its the best car ever made - what people cant have, people want.
Just one more car that the US got fucked out of...
The US got the e36 M3 lightweight, it didn't sell . . .
"Enthusiast" owners all talked about how they wanted these cars, but when the time comes, they back off, leaving the car companies with a bunch of products that they can't sell to the mainstream public.
I remember seeing an E36 LTW sit on the local dealer's lot for ages. The LTW might've sold better if it had been available without a ricer paint job and not cost +$10k more than a standard M3. Sure, it had some mods, but it also had a bunch of stuff like AC + radio deleted. Nice for the track, but try telling the average BMW customer that he has to pay more for the same car *without* AC, not just +$1,800 for a sports package, +10k! It's hard to convince the American consumer that less is more, and the 'enthusiast' consumer knows that he can delete his AC for free and bolt on suspension mods himself for ~$2k. They should've given credit for the deleted options to cover the cost of the mods and sold the LTW for about the same price as other M3's. Yeah, the mod package has some nice bolt-on goodies, but not $10k worth. Hand-picked motor blah blah blah. It's not like going from a 328i to an M3 for +50 hp, which was less than a $10k jump.
I've read that the E30 M3 was also tough for US dealers to sell for +$10k more than the 325i(probably worth it), so much so that the US was not going to get an E36 M3, which arrived only after many letters were writen by CCA people.

The reason the new ones are "softer" has nothing to do with cup holders and power windows. It has to do with weight. BMW has a car that weighs as much as an Aston-Martin but with the power of an STi. The M3 either needs to be an honest to God GT car like a 575 or a DB9 or they need to slim it down to Carrera weight (200lbs or so should do it, AT LEAST). This will give a lot more life to the brakes and the 333HP.

Too Expensive. It should have been cheaper. They took things out!

Same issues as the M3 LTW

People clamored over getting the European Civic hatchback, it's not selling.
No marketing for it. Too ugly. How could a car thats not advertised, and is ugly get sold?

"They" wanted the australian Holden Monaro, it's not selling.
When I first saw the specs of the Monaro, I was angry we didnt have this car in the states! Then when I saw it had a crap interior, was close to 4,000lbs handled like crap, had terrible styling, and no feautures, who would want it? The GTO is garbage.

The VW R32 is backing up on dealership lots.
That's because the R32 is a peice of garbage. That's ugly too.
The M3 CSL should not be sold in the states because it simply sucks. It's too expensive and performs like crap. As you said the Z06 would womp it. I agree with you completely.
The reason the other cars didn't sell was simply because they were shit and not worth buying. Not because there was no market.

FYI: The M3 CSL is not offered with a 6spd manual tranny.
I know. I said it should have come with a regular 6 speed tranny.

In all honesty them M3 should be under 2800lbs. IMO, the E30 M3 was too heavy. Why don't they stop building more expensive engines, and start reducing weight.
The thought of a V8 M3 REALLY REALLY REALLY bothers me.
