255k i think its time for a valve adjustment wouldnt you say. While your at it change the valve stem seals as well look and see if your valves and lifters are not worped and damage. Or you can do it it the easy way and buy another motor im selling one if you need one?

Well we can test the oil additives do damage myth or truth on my car. I used Lucas Oil stabilizer this last oil change. I have the Blackstone labs report for the oil I ran before this last oil change. I just need to get to the next oil change so I can send in another sample with the additive in it.

I'm very interested in the results, i'll be keeping an eye on the thread.

I've read that ZDDP can be bad for cataytic converters.

Use an oil labled as "high mileage", they usually contain ZDDP/zinc

Castrol GTX 10w-40 HM or Rotella 15w-40 are my picks

Good advice. I will get some of that. I have been using the cheap stuff so maybe this will help.

Don't ever use cheap oil!

The only motor i screwed up was a motor i stuck cheap oil in, i cooked the main bearings.

Aside from blowing a headgasket of course, but ya know, that's not related to the oiling. :P
