    Radar Dectors - Opinons?

arlight guys, i'm in the market to purchase one, i am just starting to look around, so i'd like some opinons or experince any of you have had with different models, so i don;t get suck with a lemon, or one that is not worth the money.

basicly i want it to work well, i don't need any fancy accessories like gps and the like.

so let me know your opinons.

if you have the money for the v1 get it, i think they go for around 350-400. just dont leave it visible inside your car when you go to work, school, movie, etc.

My passport was $100 less and has saved my ass countless times. Its so sensetive at first I thought it was falsing because I would get bleeding Ka over a minute before I saw the cop on flatland.
            Im now E30less.

I feel that the $400 I shelled out for my Valentine was well worth it.
Here's an example of how it saved my ass in a situation that lesser radar detectors would have failed:
While driving on back roads the V1 showed 2 separate radar coming up. I slowed down, and about 5 seconds later a cop with his radar on drives by. The V1 still shows 2 total, but with a solid down arrow, and a blinking up (forward) arrow. Following the first cop was another one about 10 seconds behind the first, also with radar. WIth other radar detectors, like Passports and those cheapo Radio Shack ones, you'd just get beeping and blinking. After the first cruiser, you would have assumed the threat had passed and sped up again... to get nailed by the second cop.
Sorry if that sounds like a cheesy add for the Valentine V1, but it's true and a good example of the advantage you get when you spend that extra $100 over a Passport.

                  Really?
I've heard stories of people catching shit from authorities just for being in possession of a boxed radar detector in their trunk.

Doesn't save your but when trooper jumps out from behind a bridge abutment with a laser gun!! happened to me yesterday but I was going 8 over and didn't bother with me. He did grab the two accords with fart cans. The looked quite bummed too.

I have an older cinci microwave passport, the alumium one. yes it's old but works still quite well for 13 years.

What about a K40!!! has everyone forgotten about good ole trusty. I have had everything from escort to cobra to bell and ect......and i have to say the belle was the worst one of all. i have not had a V1 and from what i hear i would have it to this day if i would have bought one. I really wasted my money on everything else but you live and you learn. I got 1 ticket when i had my K40 and they paid for it. check em out www.K40.com

I have been using my Escort 7500 since 2000 it has saved my ass countless times and here in Mexico where they are using old guns it saves me everytime. on my Laredo trips (1400 mi round) I see 10-15 cops long before they see me. My evil schems is I get behind a jerk going 160 kph and I go 150 I get warned & slow down to the 110 limit & he gets the ticket every time!

                            MWAHAHAHAAAAAAA

The Passport hooks to the V3 laser shifter and that will buy you a couple seconds to slow down before they get a lock on you. The only downside is its a complicated install sicne you need emmitters outside the car. It only gets you a couple seconds though, apparently the gun adapts to conditions and will change itsself to compensate.

Mine picks up laser but like you said it just tells you youve been had. Most of the time I am not going that fast because only OP has laser and I dont speed around there much. The one time I was going fast (VERY fast, 3 digits) I just got off the highway and took the backroads home.
                              Im now E30less.
