I grew up on the theory that having a cage in your car is because it is required for track. I wouldn't be putting one in my car unless I needed to. A "good" cage to me is one that is the bare min plus little extra's like mounts to the diff etc. Having all the extra crap in there just adds weight.

Bare min also includes the allowed thickness as well as the amt of bars...

It all boils down to they should be used on the track and not the street, and so you are building a race car not a tank.

As it was told to me "if you need a cage in your car, maybe we need another driver" ;)

      Hmmmm...

Haven't tumbled one yet have you...

(One of the reasons I quit fender to fender racing...Had my clock cleaned one too many times.)

This cage's weight would be about 5kg to 8kg less than Autopowers comparable cage (including additional door braces).

I'm afraid It's just not going to happen...

We would have to build and sell ten just to cover the time involved to suss out the project.

DC, how would the mount points differ from the autopower?

I'll work up a comparative illustration in a day or two and post it here.

              ...Easier than explaining.

I'd be interested assuming it meets SCCA and NASA regs.

                    I would want a bar/cage so I don't get kicked off
                    the strip.

I wouldn't run one in a street car, because cops
will have my car impounded in a second.
So just don't go to the track. :P

I think this product would only sell to the
100% race guys. But then they would be
able to get a cheaper cage welded in locally.

You keep comparing to Autopowers bar... perhaps one of the worst bars out there.. short of the Kirk bar with a False X. ;) Point being, even Hillary Clinton would look attractive when compared to Rosie O'Donnell.

Also, unless you build one of the foolish errector set rollbars that requires owner assembly, you'll be forced to ship it motor freight. Tack on additional costs of the person buying it doesn't have a depot close by where they can pick it up.

EDIT: VSR bar is the tightest fitting bolt in bar on the market. There is no other Off-The-Shelf bar that has the same level of fit & finish as the VSR bar. I've seen Kirks, Autopowers, TC Kline, etc. Short of building a custom cage, you will not find something of the same quality. There are cheaper options, that all come with their trade-off's.
                        Below the radar...

Yes... (actually some ways back someone else brought it up)

And this is what I find pathetic...

And this why this just wont fly...We live in a world where price seems to beat out quality almost every time.

Why do you think Apple Juice sold at Wal-Mart is made from apples grown in China?

Weird isn't it... You would think it would cost more to ship than to grow.
