It sucks, which is why I don't run the M30 AFM.
no, even the normal AFM does that when you have a conefilter hooked up, you just can't hear it normally.I've always had a conefilter and my car has always done that, but i added the M30 AFM just a few months ago.you cant even hear it in this video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n9PNcV5y9M

that's definitely not how it's supposed to be, sorry. My throttle response with the stock AFM and my 2.8 was very crisp, for an AFM anyway. None of that throttle-woosh-rev crap.

Perhaps you have an uknown vacuum leak?

maybe? the car idles smooth and drives great. just having the conefilter makes that sound, when i did the airbox test it didn't make that noise but it still took the same amount of time.

          M30 AFM on an M20...

          Think of it like this:

Walking in a size 12 shoe on a size 8 foot...

mine definitely did not to the 'throttle-woosh-rev' crap with the stock airbox and AFM, i would have noticed. It only started when I hooked up the M30 AFM. Maybe it's because the door is larger and the spring tension is different, it takes a bit longer to open up.

even so, my car still did that noise with the M20 AFM so it really cant be the M30 AFM.

my spring tension is softened 2 notches so I don't know. I even said it right above ^that with the stock airbox and AFM it DOESN'T make that noise only with a conefilter does it make that noise, it still revs as fast as the airbox only you can hear it.

This is what is called "anecdotal evidence"

If you want the how's why's and what for's It would be better explained 1 on 1 rather than in your thread.

I meant to say it can't be the M30AFM because the car does that with the M20 AFM also. I dont even consider it a problem, my car's an auto i rev it once a month when the cars parked for no reason. This is just the car i goto college in and get groceries once a month I think I only put about 5000miles on the car last year. I'm getting another E30 as soon as i get the money and it will be a 5 speed and i'll probably just use it as a fun car.

nope, it's because the acceleration enrichment on Motronic isn't very fast. the delay is actually a lean spike - the M30 AFM just makes the lean spike bigger and longer. It has nothing to do with how fast the door opens..

I have to agree with nando there is a time delay from when the motor takes in more air and the ECU sees that happening. This is the exact reason a system with a tps is better

so basically what we concluded here is that the stock system is best and that m30 afm, cone filter and cai all pretty much suck correct?
