For some reason I just imagine that the E36 feels similar to an E46, which I have driven. I still like the E30 better than the E46 for back road driving and such.

Not having driven an E36, I really cant compare the two.

The e36 is far superior to the e46. They are NOTHING alike.

Go from e30 to e36 and how you "feel the road less". Then times that by 5 and you have the e46.

Yeah the E46 is a great touring car. Awesome comfort but you really cant feel the road much. You just pretty much point where you want to go and it goes.. Pretty comfortable dd though. And girls love it.

All of this E30 vs E36 stuff though.. It's still a BMW either way and is better in every aspect than 95% of cars on the road as far as performance. I say 95% because I saw a Porsche GT3, '84 GTO Ferrari, and a Maserati Biturbo on the road today.. the other 5% are out there.

My reason is because the E30 is part of the last generation of BMW's that were built like tanks and will easily last over 200K miles with relatively little attention to maintenance compared to the newer cars. Plsu the build qualty is far superior, due to it being built before the globalization, cost-cutting mid-90's. And I never had problems picking up girls. With or without a car or license. I picked up tons of girls back when I had a bus pass in '98-'00 when my shit was suspended for the first time and I was living in L.A.

My girlfriend owns an e36 and there is just wayyy too much plastic for my liking. Theres little stuff that breaks all the time, and I have to fix it. That being said its still a much better highway car and more comfortable than my e30, I might complain about my 20 year old car sometimes, but I would not trade it for any e36 less than an m3 :)

I dont think a biturbo is above the e30, bitrubo's are pretty crappy

I wouldnt say crappy.. Yeah I guess I just like them because we had one in the family for about 10 years. A nice car, but I wouldnt trade my E30 for one. Especially the carbuerated model we had..

I havent seen one on the street since we sold ours in '95, so it kind of brought back memories. My parents loved it and they always compare my car to it saying how it reminds them of the Biturbo.

No because my car is lighter than a 98' M3 and i have the same engine. Besides whats the fun in someone knowing that your is fast? lol I love having a sleeper. I love the looks of the E36 M3 but i would much rather have an E30 M3 or a nicely done E30.

I don't think I would. Maybe the M20 powered car. But it would have to be a better condition E36, and an M3 at that, and not run into the ground, and the door panels would have to actually stay on. Can't count how many times I've helped my friend fix his. The interior falls apart. And that's not internet here-say I've witnessed it, and been a victim in more than one.

If I got one, it would basically have to not be an E36 on the inside. Like that awesome limited edition AC car that had E30 M3 fender flare like stuff going on and all the cf jazz.

I'd say you should go to more meets, but I rarely go.

Many people tell me that the 89 model is/was the last year that the overall quality was at its best. I also hear that its the one that everyone wants and the hardest to find. I don't know if this is exactly accurate being that E30's were manufactured throughout the 91 model year. Besides the addition of the airbag, the car didn't change THAT much did it?

I love my e30 and how easily you can toss it around corners and still have it be streetable. It gives you a feeling of being closer to the road because it isn't a super soft ride, and I enjoy that. Also I think with a little work(mtech2) the styling on the e30 looks amazing and blows away the e36.

My car is 10 years old and its been around the world and its' interior doesn't have any of the early model E36 issues. No bubbling of the vinyl on the door panels, door panels are 100% in tact, no sagging headliner, no dead OBC pixels, no sagging glove box, no peeling gauge faces, no steering wheel rot. I seriously think everyone bases their whole judgement of E36s on the bad apples, the ratted out early models. Most 84 318i's you see are pieces of shit too!

Your climate control will fail one day.

Just kidding. I have a 328is and it's been rather trouble-free as well. Only my climate control unit went on the fritz, but I fixed it with a new capacitor.

At least the A/C works - more than most E30 owners can say.
