Would you trade your E30 for an E36?

E36 Hands Down. Faster for cheaper.
Oh and to answer your question, after working on ~1000 cars in 4 years, I would drive an e36 as a DD over an e30 in a heartbeat. A fun weekend car? That depends on if you like going fast while keeping the A/C on. Remember, you can get an e36 m3 for 8k. 8k. That is 8000 for an e36 m3. Get my drift? You can't even get the transistor blowing, finicky e30 m3 for that much.
Although I will state that there is still something about the e30 that is not quantifiable, and that is why I will keep my e30 when I get my e36 :)Last edited by Skafrog; 03-22-2007, 04:12 PM.

What I want to know is how many of you out there bought an e30 because it was the best BMW you could afford? Meaning if you had the money you would have NEVER gotten the e30......
If I liked the E30 half as much as I like E28s or E24s, it would be a no brainer to spend the $2000 to get shocks, springs, wheels, tires, and exhaust built, but the sad truth is I don't even like the car that much. I'm sure it's got personality, and I bet it will be a ton of fun to drive with the M30, but I hate how they look (even lowered) because no matter what you do to an E30, it will NEVER look as good as a properly done E24 with Euro bumpers, NEVER. Maybe I'm biased since my dad's 6 was my "intro" to the BMW world and my first BMW was a 6 series, but I just can't really stomach spending much more money on the E30. It's sad, and confusing, and I think I'm a little emo.'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5

Ive had 2 E30s (an 84 318, and an 89 325) and an E36 (96 TI). I love the E30 way more. Not only is it quicker, obviously, since its about 167 HP as opposed to 153, with comparable weights. But they just have more character.
I live in SLO, and you see all these poly kids with their E36s, you see them all day long. I respect a nice E36, sure I look. but I dont drool over them like a real nice E30. The 30 is for the real purist, the true BMW Fan. Not like the E46 (Though I really love those) and the E90/2 for those who just have money to buy them.Originally posted by blunti would jerk larry king off while tonging jflips ass if h0lmes would blow his head off

i just coulnt afford the e36 nor had an excuse to spend that extra money on a drift project + it was by method of elimination that i chose the e30 'cause i dislike nissan 240s. miatas can suck my balls. the 20v on my last ae86 wasnt enough power so i said well, lets try out the bmw...then again there's gotta be a reason i'm on my second e30 and is not because an elimination round :DNo more e30s for me.

Get my drift?
If i wanted an e36, i'd of bought one. I love the way my e30 looks, like a bmw should, e36 not so much. I also think the best styled 5 is a e34, and 7 a e38. That and the way a s14 drives is just amazing. its not the fastest car out there, but if I wanted fast I would have bought something else all together. All Your Base Is Belongs To Us
