Well I never said I've been around e30's. I just bought my first e30 4 months ago actually. I used to have an e36 m3 with an RMS chip until some jackass totaled it...

I'm installing a chip on saturday and I will dyno my car before and after. I'll have a couple Dynographs up by monday-ish.

OK so how is it possible for MarkD to make more than 5hp on an m20 with only a chip? You guys have never heard of RMS. I have never heard of MarkD. I'm sure Mark is right on this one. And he has more of a rep than me on this I am assuming.

You've never heard of Mark D chips and you say you've been around E30s :loco:
He is one of the most reputable chip producers for the E30

The odd thing is, RMS is not known for chips... I am.

30hp gain on an M20 with just a chip?? That's not far-fetched, that's a fucking joke.

Get real man. You'd have to be very creative with your "math" to achieve something like this.

I'm sure you've posted one somewhere, but I'd be curious to see some of your dyno charts as well to see what kind of realistic gains people see from a well-tuned chip.

Are you sure a chip is only good for 5 hp max on an M20? The chips I developed have been measured on a dyno with gains much better than that. The fastest autocrosser in an E30 (Alex Schipkov) has had great results with hy chip.

Well these numbers are based on a stock motor with only the chip. There are many "claims" out there that are just plain horse-shit...

I will, however, be raffling off a chip for an i and an eta on the 14th of december at my RMS e30 specific Dyno Day. check the thread here

The winner of the raffle will get a free pull with the chip in. this should give you guys an idea on what kind of number we will actually get out of these cars. The info I got from the boss is that these m20 motors came heavily de-tuned from the factory. Meaning that simply tuning the chip for the ecu will bring the hp up quite a bit.

Also the number +30 HP was a number at the crank not the wheels. I was not told this when he told me the numbers. But still a very significant gain.

Back to back runs on the same day in the conditions, no correction factors.

Only difference being the chip.

In the past I know alot of aftermarket companies have made HP claims like "Our header makes 23HP on a Civic Si", but what they don't tell you is its a built high comp motor with software, intake, exhaust and the header is the bottleneck, so a stockish engine isn't really going to see that.
