So is the world ending or not?

If you turn on the news right now they cant seem to make up thier mind if there has been an explosion at LAX. According to the website it was a security breach that closed the airport but just a few minutes ago it said there was an explosion (w/injuries) and now they stopped talking about any explosion and are back to a security breach.

Now they arent talking about it at all, they have all switched back to the hurricane.
    Im now E30less.

Security incidents close Los Angeles airport

Saturday, September 4, 2004 Posted: 12:59 PM EDT (1659 GMT)

(CNN) -- Los Angeles International Airport was closed Saturday after two separate security incidents, an airport spokesman said.

In one incident, airport police were responding to reports of a "suspicious person."

The other involved a flashlight with corroded batteries that exploded in Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Seven people were hurt by that explosion.

Department of Homeland Security had a different account.

The agency said that an explosive detection system machine got a positive reading from a corroded battery in a flashlight.

DHS reported that there was no explosion and that there were no injuries that they were aware of.

The area was evacuated as a precaution.

A LAPD bomb squad remains on the scene.

That is what I mean rwdrift. One second they were calling it a bomb at LAX with many injuries and the next it seemed like it never happened. Apparently it was an oops.

Either it is a cover up.

Or they fucked up. And reported some rumor before it was confirmed.

What kind of news coverage in the US has the school siege in Beslan, Russia gotten?
The death count is more than 300 now.. it's one of the most inhumane acts I've seen happen in my life time. They killed children!! It's sooo bad I can't describe it..

I don't watch TV, but I've been reading about it on CNN.com. On top of the tragedy, it seems like the Russian government is very disorganized (which made it much worse). Every other story has a different death count and before the siege ended there must have been 10 different counts for the amount of people inside the school..

My parents are in L.A. and say the local news say it's a battery & no injuries. CNN has the Russian coverage somewhat (DTV) but Mexican news has it in depth & I can't watch it.

Screw Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore, and most Democrats! 8 yrs. with the Dem's in charge helped get the world to this point, not to mention the 20+ yrs. they controlled the House/Senate and continually cut the funding that was needed for intelligence/military. Also, look at CA...So many Demo eco-nuts have been in charge so long you can't even build a power plant to provide the electricity you need not to mention you're not even allowed to modify your cars because everyone's so afraid you're polluting the air. I guarantee you the semi-trucks, lawn mowers, etc. put out more pollutants than all the cars in the state combined. Sorry to go off but check your feelings at the door and examine the facts, then make a comment. Listen to all sides emotionlessly and see who's got their sh!t together, then vote your conscience.

Even though I am conservative Im just gonna ignore everwiser's post because I didnt intend this to be political.

I have been checking up on the situation in Russia. Its wholly fucked up, similar to the fiasco in the theater. Russia is really only about $50 away from a thirld world nation. After the fall I am sure a lot of people were pissed about worryign about USSR. The govt couldnt have organized something as complicated as aiming and launching a missile.

As I said before, Sorry to go off...I was responding more to "DSchultz" than to the mods thread title. I agree with Ryan, though, on the state of things in Russia. It's a shame when any group harms regular citizens/children and I don't care if it's terrorists or their own governments.

As far as where I'm from, I'm about an hour west of you, "rwh", in Rockville. I graduated from Turkey Run H.S. and moved down South in the '80's. I just moved back "home" (the area, not the family) last summer. As a matter of fact, I bought my project in Indy a little over a month ago. Any good BMW happenings in Indy?

There's just a few people on here from Indiana, so I thought to ask.

The big event of the year in Indy is the Formula One race and the BMWCCA corral, but that has come and gone. It was awesome.
