you aren't going to throw a rod through the block of the M10 tagging the redline once in a while

bouncing off the revlimiter for half an hour - maybe. Just don't be an idiot and it'll be fine. 4-5k on one of these motors is nothing.

That is one of the gayest comments Ive ever read on this forum.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

        ^^^

        Correct...

I was only explaining my attitude about driving like hellfire... and why that would be foolish to do under different circumstances.

Just took a look under my car and my exhaust is developing a small rust hole... No wonder it seems to be getting progressively louder.

Man, this forum is getting pretty :giggle: every thread I go into has some sort of gay joke in it.

I shift at 3k and feel like everyone is wondering why I'm waiting so long to shift...m20s sound like they're revving higher than they are. It probably helps that I have a full exhaust though, which also makes me rev it pretty high fairly often :o it screams at 6k+.

Seriously... More latent homosexuals on R3vlimited these days than in the Blue Oyster...

I have an M42; it loves to rev ;). Rev limiter is set at 7150 RPM according to MarkD, but even at full acceleration on the autocross I'll keep it a few hundred RPM short of redline. The instant really isn't what kills it, though; it is sustained RPM that does the damage.

Ok. So what I've gathered so far is that m10's a cheap, durable, and will take a pounding with proper maintenance. Trips to the red line are safe. Only when sustaining high rev's is when it becomes dangerous.

Think about it this way, the m10 was used as a base for the engine in the bmw formula 1 car in the 80s. And you can get one for probably like $100 cause no one wants that engine.

                          +1

Mine sees the revlimiter probably daily over the last two years, the engine is in crappy condition and yet it still keeps on going.... even though I am starting to hear rod knock and it suffers from oil starvation on high speed right hand turns.

R3v the piss out of it.
