I do miss my V dubs! I had a string of 914's and then a MkII Golf.
One of my 914's had a 2.4litre Weber carb motor. I could do E-brake slides in the width of an alley. It was glorious.
Even the 2.0 D jet cars were quick.
Once I parked it in a bad spot and the motor got flooded with water. When I tried to go to work in the morning the motor wouldn't turn over. Anyone else would probably had tried to push start it which would have been fatal. I removed the sparkplugs and discovered the water in the jugs. Cranked it over for 30 seconds and shot all the water out. Replaced plugs, drove it to work.
Only in a VW!
