Never knew the E30 was so sought after

Always been a BMW lover, although Ive had alot of other project cars. I had a 95 M3 back in 01-03. I got alot of compliments and such, but it seemed to lack the 'soul' the E30 does.

Recently I bought a 90 325is. And I cannot take this car anywhere without getting a shitload of compliments. It seems to be mainly the older folks, which I appreciate alot more. freakin sherriff pullrd me over, and let me slide because he loved the car so much. I never would of thought people love the poor mans M3 so much. It almost makes me want to keep it stock. :p

Its not even anything special thats the funny thing. Its just a brilliantrot 90. Its lowered on 14" weaves with just a few minor mods. :)

Essentially. Very similar engine and handling characteristics.

Not an official thing, but every automotive publication has called it that since it was first released. It's known by that moniker throughout the BMW community.

When the 318is was introduced, a year or two after the M3, it was indeed nicknamed as the poor man's M3. The little 318is had a peppy high revving motor and good handling thanks to a lighter front end.
