    iS lip

So my iS lip is soon on it's way here.

I have a few issues. I used to have an I lip that would even scrape and get ripped off on occasion.

The volvo lip I've got now has been ripped off and scraped countless times. I usually don't care about the volvo lip because it was so cheap.

What can I do with the IS lip to prevent this? Paint advice is needed too.

Not install it, or drive very cautiously.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
    Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

Its mostly the roads around there, the entrances and exits will often include a massive trench that you have to drive over that will rip off anything available.

If it's getting scraped and ripped off constantly, your roads obviously aren't good enough for a lowered car.

You can get a splitter to stop it from scraping the bottom, or secure the lip with loose zipties (so they dont break upon impact, but will leave the lip dangling).

But again, if you do this on a constant basis, its time to learn how to maneuver your car better, or raise it.

I think it mostly just means that I need to stay weary of entrances to places.

Yeah, I'll probably do the zip ties. My main fear is that it gets knocked off and then run over and destroyed.

just make sure your zip ties are loose enough to hold on to the lip if it breaks off and not drag it around and potential run it over.

Yeah, that's what I did with the volvo lip.

                Anyone know about paint?

DON'T LISTEN TO THESE CLOWNS! The IS lip is very pliable and if installed properly with new clips and no additional splitters, will be very secure for the most part. When you hit something though, the hard plastic clips will be the first thing to yield allowing the lip to be shed safely. You will run over it but that mainly will just fuck up the paint and if you've painted it yourself, will not be too much of an issue. Installing a splitter will stiffen the lip some, and if you're REALLY OBSERVANT can be an early warning to when you're about to scrape, but for this to work you have to be traveling very slowly. I only started breaking IS lips when I had splitters attached to them.

As for paint, a little bird (who may or may not own this forum) told me that Krylon Gloss black is a damn good match for Schwarz. If you're careful, this will be affordable and look decent while being easy to repair if you get a booboo.

Mount it properly, buy extra clips and slow the fuck down, you'll be ok!

And I'm proud of you!

STOP WITH THE ZIP TIES! They break, they suck, they won't help.

                          Agreed 1000 percent.

I've hit and scraped my IS lip many a time, and drove once ~50kms with it hanging lose on one side...the cool thing was none of the new OE clips i got were broken so i just clipped it back on and everything was win.

If you're getting an aftermarket lip i can understand zip ties...but with a real iS lip just get the damn clips!

My thought would to run the "i" or volvo lip on a daily basis so you don't care what happens to it and rock the "is" lip on special days (of your choosing). :) again just a thought. Thats what I do.

                            . . . damn these crappy roads.

                              Hahaha

Alright. I'll go with just the clips for now, I dug out my old new clips that I intended to replace when I had the "i" lip, but it got ripped off in a rainstorm so I never did.
The IS lip is made of the same plastic stuff that the i lip is, right?

Oh, and this blows, I just found out that they don't sell fucking SEM trim paint anywhere near here. Fuckers.
