Yep, they are OEM "is skirts", as the others mentioned

I just looked up the prices on Tischer BMW...not to bad, I don't know if they're still available but looks to be about ~$220 for the whole setup. I see people selling them used for more than that. Anyone know if is skirts are still available new?

Yes, still available. I bought a set from the dealer last spring.

Thanks for the quick info. No wonder I never saw these before. They were only available one year! Although RealOEm says 9/87 and later I'm sure that's what years these could be retrofitted to. Does installation of these require drilling holes in my rocker panels and fenders?

Yes , lots of holes if done correctly .
Or you could bypass the drilling and just adhere the top of the sides with automotive double-sided tabe but may experience some sagging .

And yes that Calypso car in the first post is an '91 325i with optional "Sport Package" although they only came badged as 325i .

The skirts are a lot more common in europe, and they were availiable with the advent of plastic bumpers iirc. They are all over the place over there.

der affe, I think those skirts you posted are Zender, I think Cary has the same ones on his car.

I thought that too, but Cary has slightly different style of Zenders if you compare the pics closely. I'm assuming the red ones we've been talking about are Zender's later version to go with their kit for plastic bumpers.

for all you guys who installed the IS side skirts on a car that didnt come with them:

what did you use to attach the smaller front half of the skirt? which hardware did you buy out of 4,5,6,7,8,9 in the oem part break down?

The reserve on the Calypso car (140292169545) is around $5000. The reserve was not met yet at $4200. It's really a clean car with a nice color combo. He says he paid someone $5000 to just rebuild the motor. If you believe that. I thought the car was an 325i with the "s" pkg, but it has no OBC. Did they have OBC in airbag cars? I assume so.
I have a 325i non sport but its a cali car and very clean. I'd love the look of the car with the sideskirts but I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in perfectly good rocker panels. Especially in the northeast where rust is pretty easy to start.

Sorry to resurrect the dead but will these side skirts fit an '85 model?
