I remember watching, wondering how/if he'd be able to launch it. Method as I recall: bounce it off the r3vlimiter, then engage the clutch like you're tap-dancing on the pedal. It worked!

I love that Benetton era! Wasn't it '94 when that thing stuck in 5th gear in Spain & Schumi still finished on the podium?

In order for an auto manufacturer to justify the incredible expense of F1 they must see a return on their investment in the form of new technological & engineering breakthroughs that can eventually be implemented onto their road cars. With the current state of the FIA's cost-cutting measures (engine freeze, transmission limitations, strict KERS parameters, etc.) there is no incentive for a company like BMW or Toyota to stick around anymore.

I don't really mind that they have left as long as they have replacements that are serious about the sport. Car manufacturers have other priorities than just racing so they are bound to leave when it isn't looking so hot to remain. More teams like Williams who are there just to race are appreciated to me. Sad to see that BMW didn't rise to the occasion this year like they were expected to though.

PS: Sato over DC for me as well.
