I think it means they are suspending the ban because they were forthright.... about lying to the race stewards 5 times......once they were put in front of the world council.

I think its total BS. I know that if this were Ferrari people would want blood.

Yea, they said that if there is another breach of conduct within the next 12 months then they will issue the 3 race ban. Looks like they will need to be on the up and up for the next year.

So my DVR is fucked, and I haven't caught a single race.... I'm pissed.

Announced Bridgestone tyre allocations for the 2009 season:
            Spain - soft, hard
            Monaco - super soft, soft
            Turkey - soft, hard
            Britain - soft, hard
            Germany - super soft, medium

Interesting that they are going to use adjacent tire compounds just for Monaco.

Exactly. you as well as many other people think that Ferrari is getting played favorites from the FIA. What then explains this? McMerc spent the last few season pouring through all the technical data STOLEN from Ferrari, has since LIED to the race stewards to start this season, allowed team orders last season [germany] and let their driver illegally overtake another driver [spa last year]

Pretty much all of those occasions came with no appropriate penalties. They spoke of BANNING McMerc from running in 2008 because of the Stephany-gate shamozzle, but instead they were excluded from the constructors championship.

This IS a slap on the wrist for McMerc that will amount to them feeling they are invincible.

This may very well be the nail in the coffin, and I'm sure the FIA will try to drag this on for as long as they can, I wouldn't be at all surprised if McMerc is handed a hefty (completely unnecessary) fine for this too. They made a mistake, but this whole ordeal has been blown way out of proportion.
for sure, thats what im worried about. If McLaren leaves F1.... who will be next?

If, and that's a big IF, Mercedes pulled out. I'm assuming they would sell their interest in McLaren back to McLaren or some other investor group and McLaren would use the Cosworth engine being developed for next year.

I have a hard time believing McLaren would leave the sport without Mercedes backing them.

                    thats a good point.

the rule allows the teams to develop their own engines using the Cosworth blue prints.. whatever advantage that has.

well the FIA announced some of their changes for next year(why change anything?!) there will be 13 team slots for next year and optional budget caps with reduced regulations as well as the following:
                        Changes applicable to all teams

It was confirmed that from 2010, refuelling during a race will be forbidden in order to save the costs of transporting refuelling equipment and increase the incentive for engine builders to improve fuel economy (to save weight).

It was also confirmed that tyre blankets will be banned and that the ban on other tyre-heating devices will be maintained.
Are races going to be shorter, fuel tanks larger or both remain the same and it falls to the teams to develop better KERS and fuel mileage?

                              Good question.

I personally hate the no refuel rule, but understand the reasoning. I like that strategy comes into play in F1.

But no tire warmers? Is that really going to save any money?

They'll just have to start building mobile greenhouses to keep the tires in. haha
