Just thought I'd say: BMW wagons with manual transmissions give me a chubby. I feel like I'm confessing at an AA meeting when I say that.

It's what I want, though; I hope I can find one off-lease instead of having to order it new or make an engine and/or transmission swap, which is way out of my league.

    Nice thread.

      My Wife's Grocery Getter- '95 525iT

      - Having owned it three years (it's a '95 525iT) I have done: Smoked Euro Ellipsoids w/ HID's, Sachs Sport Performance Suspension Kit, E39 Style 5 BBS's, BavAuto chip, E34 ///M5 side mirrors, OEM Smoked front turn & side signals, roof racks & rear roll-up cargo nets, E65 Electro-chromatic RV mirror w/ garage door opener & alarm LED. A bunch of maintanence (new control- thrust arms, all new bushings in suspension, intake gaskets, knock sensors, water pump & all hoses).

The car is awesome out on the road. Crank back the power seat, lean the armrest down & set the cruise control! It gets roughly 29MPG highway (158K on it now)- better than most newer cars- She loves it, does not even want a newer one or an X5 (I tried to convince the 4.6L :) ) as we have 1 baby & another due in Dec.

The wider grille/ hood + M-Tech sideskirts + lower sections of bumpers were all one color (same as car, not blacked out like earlier models) ALL only in '94 & '95. The small block 8 cylinder was '94 &'95. Be careful of the dual sunroof models as they tend to go bad, rear hatch wiring harnesses go bad & need to be replaced. You have to watch out for the Nikasil motor (same) problem that tore the same hell w/ the 540's, 740's & 840's. Avoid them unless the motor has been replaced. My M50 (525i motor) has 189Hp & moves out pretty good considering the car weighs 3800 pounds! Well, we added a chip to help that out :)

Yeah I've seen that E34 in person. It's sick.... yet it somehows falls quite nicely in the family car category.

Hey Don, congrats on the new kid! Who gets the M3 now? :)

My buddy is converting an E34 525iA sedan to an E36 S50 motor and 5-speed tranny, so I would imagine that converting an E34 touring to a better motor is possible.

That e34 wagon is hot stuff.
Just an idea, but I think it would look even sexier if you got rid of the roof racks...that is, as long as you don't use them.

Looks worse to me :( The roof racks *Factory Ones* are hard to find, so I snatched these up about a year ago when someone posted them- Here is a pic of the car before the roof racks:

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

Hmm, I could go either way after seeing the pic. Normally I dig the "clean" look for wagons, but your's look friggin awesome either way.
