Farthest I've driven for a car is 2 hours away. Was well worth it.
How far would you travel for the right e30?

I did a 2300 mile road trip from Chicago back to Vancouver, BC for my vert.
One of the most fun road trips I have ever done.

Flew to Chicago to buy my E36 M3, but I flew back and had it shipped down. Almost bought an E39 M5 in San Francisco but the deal fell through at the last minute.

Yeah, he's been great about the whole thing. Probably the best seller I've ever dealt with. I almost want to write my seller feedback now - but I'll wait until the car is home."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

Back in the day I would drive anywhere to buy the right car. Im from new england, I took the i80 all the way out to Nevada to buy a car in 02'. In 04' I drove 1200 miles to south florida.
Nowadays, no more than 50-60 miles. I have a wife and baby at home.-Jay

When I purchased my STi, I flew my friend and myself to Boston and drove back to So.Cal. in the span of under 50hrs (from time of dropoff at airport to arrival at parking spot in apartment complex - includes flight, pit stops, food stops, etc.)
I'd do that for an e30 if it was the right one, although I might have trouble finding a friend for this...Comment

I drove 3 hours (200 miles) to Fresno to buy a 89 325i 5 speed 4 door for only $1.5K with a huge stack of receipts (to include a $2.5K receipt for a 2 year old paint job). It was on the Fresno Craigslist for nearly a month. Nobody there wanted a stick. If that same car would have been on the LA or SF Bay area Craigslist, it would have been gone in a day. It pays to go a bit farther outside your local area to find the right car.

I drove one back from Phoenix, and I live in Minneapolis (was a $1500 starter that I sold for $2300 3 months later)
I went to Milwaukee for a garage queen 325is w/ mint red leather. 5 hours away.
Cars around here are tough to find w/ no rust.
The right car at the right price, though? ... I'd pay extra NOT to have it shipped. I love the road trip.Comment

I bought my car sight unseen (well in person unseen) I live in Washington State and the car was in Mississippi. I talked to the PO (RCWells) on the phone for about a month or so and I even talked to one of his good buddies about the car. I needed to sell my truck before I bought the car and he gave me a chance to sell my truck since I was the first to really show some serious interest in the car. Stand up guy and I was really pleased with the purchase. If this guy ever has something for sale you need, it will be what he says its it. Buying an E30 for almost 3 or 4 times the blue book value was a little nerve wracking without even driving it, but I was willing to pay for what I was looking for. Trying to find an almost mint, in my opinion, E30 was kind of hard. After all a vehicle is only worth what someone will pay for it. If I ever need to sell or want to sell my car though he will be the first person I contact before posting it.sigpicComment
