    insulating intake manifold spacer

Has anyone thought about or used these things? Thermoblok makes them in an email said he would talk about making them for the M20 if he had 10 units sold.

    Debate pros and cons please

HONDATA has been making these for a while. This is JDM import craze tech crossing the pond.

Just a peice of plastic to gap the metal surfaces. Maybe kamotors can get in on the top of this craze.

Yep, 3 or 5 hp on an F20c. It's just another $50.00 mod.

              I read that until:

Mugen has implied that as little as 5 degrees (F) will result in a 1% power gain. That means that a 25 degree reduction would result in a 5% power gain

We used aluminum plates (fairly large) to act like a heatsink, but it's not really something you need on a street car.

Wasn't to gain HP either, just trying to protect the squirting works from melting.

i've seen plenty of these for domestic/VW apps as well- google "phenolic spacer" for moar- but never run across one for the M20.

5hp for about 100 bucks on an m20 is a good bang for the buck as I see it. Also I think that these things with be way more worth in a FI when you could get your intake temps way down for knock defeat

we did that to mate a carb on a honda engine for a grassroots build with a 6-pack of natty light cans as velocity stacks glued to the hood. ....overnight, being in FL, the wood swelled and we had vacuum leaks the next day, but it made it though and ran ok.
