Ryan, where have you been man? I have the rims sitting in my room, awaiting tires!

There was a rock about 7inches in diameter that was in the middle of the road. I guess he had no time to react to it and it nailed the oil pan. We drove for at least 10-15 more miles and his car was fine. When we pulled over, the oil started to gush out. :(

I think I will be getting the GC's soon. The people who work there are awsome and I just have to do something with my suspension.

that sux! :( With this, and Lukas incident, it looks to be more reason to buy a skid plate. Think this forum could create a group buy?

I am going to stop by a local tire dealer and order a set of Bridgestone re750's in size 205/50/16. I will be talking to one of the guys at ground control this week about a suspension setup. Also in the works is me going down to San Fran to pic up Dave's hartop. That ought to be nice for the winter. I want to get the suspension in time for Winter break so I have time to do everything (no school :D ).

            Thanks

              Hey guys....

Yes, what Aaron says is true. Last Saturday it was "the M20 oil pan vs. rock"....and the rock won. I guess you could say it was comparable in size to a cantalope. At the time this incident happened, it couldn't have been easily avoided. We were on Hwy 49 (going south) and descending into a valley. The road was a twisty two-laner.....lots of corners posted 15mph or 20mph, plus it was raining pretty hard too. The rock was in the middle of my lane and I spotted it just as I was coming around a corner. I was going about 20-25mph when the impact occured. The result was two holes: one at the front edge about 1/2" in diameter and it was a clean break. The second hole was at the back edge of the pan about 3/4" in diameter and the metal tore and was pushed in a little.....not completely off.

Long story short: I never made it to Ground Control. Instead I had to get a tow home (god bless AAA Plus....100 miles of free towing!) and I spent the rest of my Saturday and part of Sunday morning making repairs. Following a thorough clean-up of all the oil/grease around the damaged areas, I used JB Weld to repair the holes. That stuff is amazing......its holding up extremely well. I took advantage of this situation and gave the car 5 quarts of new oil and changed the filter. I really lucked out with this event. The JB Weld, oil and filter cost me less then $20 and the tow home didn't cost me a dime.

              Here's some pics...

Aaron, that has got to be the fucking nicest color I've ever seen on an E30, period. For some reason I seem to be getting the vibe that it only came with the late verts, so if I were to look for an iS in the same color I'd be disappointed. This true? Ok, well, anyway, from the looks of it, very clean car, man. I'm jealous. :) (nice rims, too..)

Besides that, your trip sounded fun (besides Jon's situation), and it looks like you saw your share of rare cars while you were there... man, the sunk lights in that 944 get me every time.

And Jon, my sympathy to you, man, but it looks like all is well again with MUCH less fuss than it could have caused. So... you lucky bastard. ;)

Morpheus, thanks for the compliments. I have seen the color on later style 325i's although I am not sure if there were any iS's.

Ryan, I have been looking at tires for a while and the on the tirerack.com Bridgestone Potenza RE750's are rated higher than the es100's. I also consulted with some others with Bridgestones and they love them.

                            I will see.
