What do rings me (the ones you wear on your finger)

I'm well aware that a chick sporting a ring on her left 4th finger means she is either engaged or married.

However, I see girls rocking all kinds of other rings. Do these have any meaning? It would be nice to tell if she has a significant other by looking at her fingers...

If it is not a diamond on that left ring finger...90% of the time she isn't taken. It might be a "promise" ring, but that is a load of crap. Either you are, or you are not engaged. Women wear rings on all fingers, and more often than not both ring fingers are taken up by rings. Colored stone? Usually safe. Pearls? Safe DIAMONDS Not safe. But there are women who wear alternative stones on that finger as well. I have always liked pearls, but diamonds are a girls best friend for a reason.

Rings on other fingers, no known signifigance. Ring on a necklace? Usually taken, he is big and she can't fit the ring on her finger. Wouldn't mess with that one.

NOW, if you live in an area that is socially diverse, where you might run into Europeans on a daily basis, they tend to wear the wedding/engagement ring on the RIGHT ring finger. Not all do this, but the majority I have known do.

Keep in mind you can always ASK a woman what that ring on her finger signifies. Use it as an ice breaker instead of seeing it as a mysterious obstacle. :)

Like she said, unless the girl has a rock on the finger its all good. Even then a lot of times they will turn any old ring from some unsuspecting boyfriend into a "promise ring" and wear it like you are fucking engaged and then go brag to all the world.

Next thing you know you get shit for hitting on girls because you are supposed to be engaged. :roll:

My wife wears her engagement ring (diamond) and a plain wedding band on the same finger. Sometimes she only wears the wedding band. If there's a ring on that finger she's probably off-limits.

The only other right that I know of that "means something" is the Caladagh (sp?). It is a celtic ring with two hands holding a heart, with a crown over it. If the crown is towards the knuckle, she is taken. If it is the other way, she is "looking".
