He did. He said he checked the valve clearance and everything was fine.

This might sound stupid, but see if your distributor cap cover is sticking out and hitting the fan. Also, could be the fan hitting the radiator or something else. Just check everything that moves on the engine.

try pulling ur belt off of your fan and waterpump, then do the same thing as in the video. If the sound persists then you may be in need of a rebuild. If sound stops, it could be something as easy as your fan hitting something..

I had the same problem when i first rebuilt the topend on my car, turned out to be the fan hitting a hose clamp.

Still stumped and need help!!!!! We pulled the cap off and the rotor and around it was chalky and what not, cranked it over agian and still was making noise. I'm pretty dam sure that its coming from the head. I was thinking about pulling the head off and then crank it to see if that was the trouble but I would rather not if I don't have to. The valve clearence is fine and the rockers look fine. The only other thing that I thought was weird was that the spark plugs had oil on them, possible a ring could be broke or something??? Thanks.

Since you said spark plugs... maybe make sure that one is not popping off by accident. The last ones, close to the firewall, can be tricky to screw in properly. Was the acceleration affected when you were driving it home, did it feel in any way different? Make sure the retainer clips are not sideways or they will be struck by the shaft.

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

It wasn't jerking or anything when I would get on the gas when I was last driving it but, It made more noise. When I would let off it would be less loud.
