I'll see if they can fire it up for me when I go back down there. I'm pretty sure it's M88 powered, I didn't pop the hood.

Yes. For less energy loss and improved weight distribution.

There is no such thing as a M88 powered E9 coupe. The M88 was derived up for the M1 when designed in the mid/late '70s, so even if it had it, it wouldn't be correct.

Yeah sorry, I misspoke. Thinking of the M1 (which was M88/1 powered I believe).

The 3.5CSL was powered by the predecessor to the M88/S38. Do you happen to know the engine code?

                            Bring ear plugs.
With the side exit, it will make your ears bleed.

If it is a true motorsport car, it also won't just fire up, so don't expect them to start it.

                            1) it needs to be primed
                            2) it won't idle
                            3) slide throttles are finicky
                            4) look for the tennis balls that Motorsport used to block the trumpets.

I also question it's legitimacy, the "side marker" recesses in the fenders look out of place, and the "cage" is minimalist.

Having spent a good amount of time in/under/around a true factory CSL Racer, there are a lot of differences. I'm not saying it's a fake, but I'm not totally sold on authenticity.

Yes! Thank goodness somebody else in this thread knows what they are looking at.
