              do M20s really need 20w50? ive been running high milage 5w30 and using about two quarts in about a month and a half. then again my cam seal leaks

                5w30 is way too thin, try some 15w-40 or 20w-50

                          Yes thats correct.

                          And on a related note last time I filled the engine up with gas, i popped the hood and put the pump in but it only took about a gallon and a half to fill from empty. Now my fuel gauge still reads empty and when i pull the dipstick to check the oil it looks really clean and smells funny. Anyone know whats wrong with my car?

                              Looks like I may need a new valve cover gasket. That's my fault, I adjusted the valves a couple times and reused the gasket. However, it's hardly leaking. Not even enough to lose a quart in 4-6 months.

                              Looks like she's retaining oil well overall though. The level hasn't moved in the past week since I filled it up, so hopefully it's just something minimal.


                              On a side note: are there repercussions to adjusting your valve clearances too minimal?

                              I set them to .011 I / .012 E a few weeks back, and it was still running pretty noisey. I set them to .009 I / .010 E this weekend, and it's much quieter, however the idle is a tiny bit rougher.

                              I'm not sure if this is being caused by the adjustment, or whether the ECU just didn't recalibrate very well after reconnecting the battery. I'm also not getting any read outs from anything with a sensor on my OBC - which is brand new. The clock and Temp work, but that's it. My cluster gas gauge is staying on full also. I replaced the fuel level sender along with the valve adjustment because I was having fuel read issues before, it was all over the map.
                              Now I get no readings. No OBC fuel level, MPG, AVG MPH, Range.
