Like the Miller Time guy, snatching the beer back.
We could assemble a task force that snatches back one car every month and restores it then flips it for $. Like a more reputable pimp my ride.

why cant i find an '89 325is with 4 miles on it in some garage???!!!

there is this red Audi 90 coupe in my home town that has been in the guys front yard since I was in highschool. The car looks like it gets washed as the paint still looks fresh but it has never moved and the grass is growing up around it. It was liek a highschool right of passage to go up to the guy and ask to buy it. Never for sale... last year a sign appeared on it "NO... This car is NOT for sale." its sad.
There is also a VW carmen ghia in the woods somewhere. People use it for target practice but the guy wont sell it.

There's a guy near me with a '91 red 325i sport that doesn't have tags and hasn't moved since I first noticed it when I was 14. Yes, I have wanted an e30 for that long. The car has absolutely no rust or body damage and is bone stock. One day it will be mine.

Guy up the street has one too, 2 years ago when I finally saved up enough to buy one, I went up the street and after about a decade of seeing it everyday parked on the corner it was gone. I finally see a week or two later and ask him to buy it and he tells me it is his daily and he drives it to work everyday??? I swore it never moved before.

Since we're on the topic of barn finds, does anyone know the story on this Ur-Quattro?

I've had that picture for several years, but never did find out what the hell the deal was.

Just about every desirable classic car, plus UR Quattros, heaps of VWs (Siroccos, Corrados, 3dr VR6s, 3dr GTis, G60s, Rabbits), E30 M3s, twin-turbo 2-seater 300ZXs (we got the shitty 2+2s), iX BMWs...

Also Alfa 8Cs, Hyundai Genesis, Corvette Z06s more recently.

there were no such things as VR6 Scirocco, only Corrado. And last time we were getting anything that others didn't, was Chinese imported SARS.

on the subject of barn finds... my grandparents have a cabin in mountain city, tennessee on a pretty rural mountain. a few minute walk through the woods takes you to atleast 50 cars from the early century through the 50s/maybe 60s sitting around a cabin as old as the cars. just totally in the middle of the woods. my grandpas had his property forever (cars arent on his) and said the guy that lived there back in the day didnt wear clothes or shoes or anything (weird?) and basically never left the cabin. crazy to think about all those cars sitting there for sooo long. i used to go out there all the time now im wantin to go back.

in a barn down the road from me sat a 1977 mustang II.

people actually asked to buy it, too.

sometimes the allure of a barn find makes people pay and arm and a leg for a shitty car.

but in another tale, a member on e30tech had a story a while ago. KnYnE is his name, and i believe as the story goes he and his dad found a delorean in a storage bay with 700 miles on it. it was some old lady's husband's who had passed away. she gave it to them for free. they at least insisted on covering what she had to pay to have it stored there for so long (7000 bucks)

actually i just found the old thread so if any of what i just typed was wrong read it here---->

There was a comma between them. The V6 Golf might have been called something else over there, but the up-shot is all our fast Golfs (up till the MkIV R32) came as 5drs, which suck.

You also get lots of cool cars made only in left-hand drive. As part of the Commonwealth, Australia and New Zealand use right-hand drive models, which sucks balls if you're not into Japanese turbo rice rockets.

There's a guy with a genuine 2002ti near me that won't let it go. It's literally rotting away. At one point I offered 2 grand for it and he said no.

the weird thumbwheel thingy in the iroc is a event/trip planner of sorts. the one thumbwheel has stuff on it like "recreation" "medical" service" etc. i guess so when you flip your turbomullet back up from changing your whitesnake cassette you have a reminder of your medical appointment to take care of that burning sensation.

i disagree bout Oz not getting cool shit. id shove off a shitload of irocs, stang Gt's and the like for a monaro ute.
