This product looks really promising and I'm considering getting one. It reminds me a lot of the DSM Link ( http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/prodcompare/ ) that I used to use on the Talon and I always wished there was a similar product for the E30.

Hey thats me! Thanks for the shout out Brody. I have had nothing but good things to say about the MAF or WAR chip. I love it. On the way home stuck in traffic i can switch to the 87 octane tune and save some fuel then when its time to play i just give the TCM a turn and BAM! another 20WHP Good stuff. I dont know if Anyone is familiar with DYNOCOMP . they are located in scotsdale, AZ. Thats where I had my tune done.

    Hey Guys,

Just thought I would post an update. We have an update for W.A.R. For Windows from Version 1.0 to 1.0.3 Coming later this month. It will also be available for the 153 ECU too. The 173, 380, 525 will all work with the 173 setup.

Also, the e30 M3 with the 071 ECU is all ready to go for the W.A.R. Chip and Version 1.0.3 of the editing software.

Just thought I would make a post to let those who didn't purchase the W.A.R. Chip directly from us that they are eligible for the update too.

On an even better note, we have had a customer email us his dyno report for his M20. He goes by the user name DonnyDonny on some forums. He previously had a Conforti Chip with AFM and a 3" exhaust. It dyno'ed at 151 HP to the wheels. By installing our MAF he was 6HP above the conforti setup, then the local dyno shop he went to was able to use the W.A.R. Chip to squeeze another 10 HP out of his specific car! For a total of 167 to the rear wheels!

doesn't matter which ecu... There are a couple different bosch ECU's but the W.A.R. Chip will work for either.

    Interesting!

Which ECU would I want? I am doing a NV M50, all stock on the DD. I care WAY more about fuel usage/looks/quiet and low maintenance than I do about power, but that may change.

and would the MAF be compatible/beneficial with the m42?
Unfortunately, the MAF has issues on the M42. We have tried to develop a MAF conversion for the M42 twice now. As this gentleman's post in this thread left everyone hanging,

    I'm just sayin...
The first time, we pre-sold 20 MAF's prior to having the development totally finished. There were driveability issues that we could not address, so we refunded everyone their money.

With our GEN III MAF's we tried again because we have come a long way in our knowledge, but still there was an off idle "bug" that we were not satisfied with so again, we didn't offer the M42 MAF Conversion. It may be a different story when there is a turbo involved though:p

As for the ITB's, I don't see why not. There is a fellow in the UK running ITB's on his M20 and our MAF conversion just fine. He has the W.A.R. Chip now as well and hasn't really played with it much yet.

Hey Brody, thanks for joining R3V.

I really enjoyed the conversation we had the other day (and by "other day" I mean last month) even though you are WAY over my head in the language of tuning, I am really impressed at how all-encompassing this product is.

I expect my car will get 24 valves this summer, but if/when I do a 1.3 car with FI, this chip will be in it.

    Keep checking on us, man!

i may be going the turbo route with my m42 in the future so, will i be able to use this chip without turbo and get similar results as a conforti/mark d chip and then use the same chip (W.A.R.) instead of buying megasquirt if i eventually do get some boost?
The W.A.R. Chip is unique in many ways. For your particular question, it makes good sense. The W.A.R. Chip is the last chip one would need. If you stay N/A, you have a performance chip which is infinitely adjustable. If you go turbo, or supercharge, you would need a new tune for sure. Instead of buy another chip, you can possibly download a good base file, and tweak it to your application, or call Miller Performance and have then send you a custom file over email.

Whenever you do something to your car performance wise, there is always the potential to tune for more power. Traditionally, you were stuck with generic settings. If you added a Cam, or did some other "heavier" mods, you would need either a custom tune, or buy another chip. Now, you can massage the tune out yourself, or download a tune from the W.A.R. room or another W.A.R. Chip user that is applicable to your new setup.

as for people complaining about runing rough when cold, ive had no rough running at all.
When converting to a MAF, there are lots of parameters that need to be addressed. Cold start is one of them. The cold start for GenIII is nailed pretty good, but there is the odd car that needs some cold start tweaking.

yes i believe you can run it now with one tunning then download or customize for a turbo setup. i dont know anything about the turbos tunnig differences though. i went from having no chip to having the maf/chip combo so I dont know how a mark d chip feels. james said that it pulls harder than his old mark d chip did. my car runs so smooth its amazing and as for people complaining about runing rough when cold, ive had no rough running at all. it runs better cold now then it did before, it might be the slightly higher idle than before. Its about 850 rpm it used to be around 650-700 my car would sometime shake like a v8 or something.
