Non Vanos has a little less peak HP, and a lot less midrange torque. That's the best part about a 24v swap, the midrange & low end grunt. The swap makes the car a lot more tractable than an M20, not to mention more reliable. That's why I can't understand the non-vanos swaps.

~189hp. the vanos motors have much broader torque curves though.

I dunno, there's something that I like about NV engines. Its pointless and the VANOS is better in pretty much every way minus reliability, but the motors feel a lit revvier if that makes any sense.
