my friend found a 1979 635csi for sale(really cheap), I was looking at real OEM and noticed it didn't come out until 1984 in america. I'm thinking the car is the euro version because the speedo was in KPH(went to 260kph), the car only has a left mirror(no the other ones not broken), the car has BBS wheels, zender side skirts, headlight wipers,NO spot for a US plate only the spaced out euro plate spot in the rear, bowtie headlights, and some wierd foam spoiler, the intake manifold was not the regular M30B35 manifold that i'm used to seeing it was much smaller and had no letters or indication of what it was on it.(doesn't match the REALOEM picture.) car drove fine, but how do I tell if this isn't just a 633csi with a 635csi badge?

What you mention reflects a Euro 1979 635Csi.
Simple L-Jetronic injection
Big rear 1979-only big rubber spoiler
Buffalo leather Recaro interior maybe...
And most likely a CR tranny.
Don't part it out please. Keep it and drive it.

OP, definitely sounds like a euro car. There should also be a rubber trunk mounted spoiler with the "635csi" badge on it.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. They barely hold everything together and they only sold a lot because of the popularity of their older sibling.

If it's a '79 it's got the M90B35 (3453cc big bore short stroke) which is worth a small fortune by itself if it's in decent shape. Well... the pistons are. I'd grab it in a second.
And just for reference guys, being a '79 doesn't mean that it's more likely to have the dogleg box. It was still just an option and there were more produced with the standard 265OD. If it's got the dogleg though you have quite a rare car!'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5
