Mtech 2 kit on early e30 convertible

I am just about to buy a full mtech 2 kit for my 89 (diving board) e30 vert. Before I send the money I just want to make 1000% sure the mtech 2 will fit on the early convertibles.

Also, how does the rear work with the early taillights?

It will work from what I have read with some adjustments. The E30 convertible already had the different arches in the rear, that was the big problem with early Sedan/Coupes with higher arches so you couldnt put plastic bumpers on.

Below is the link on how to adjust for the plastic bumper on an early vert. The Mtech Kit mounts basically the same way so you should be fine. That being said I have never done it so I would like others to chime in.

Since the MTech 2 kit uses the plastic bumper inner supports one will need to source those as well. Get ready to search for alot of clips and fasteners. Some of which may be No Longer Available.

M tech 1 would be correct for your car. M tech 2 is for facelifted cars. With that said, you can run OE M tech 2 stuff with some modifications. You need vert specific side skirts and a facelift front valance to run the front airdam correctly though. The rear is the least of your concerns because you have a convertible with the lower rear arch. Then you'd also need the later bumper shocks, carriers if not included with the kit and misc hard to find NLA installation hardware. Not impossilbe as there are several who have done it but it's not ideal either. At the end of the day, it's a lot of work and it won't be a factory fitted M tech car.
