Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be sure to check every inch. They guy just wants a newer body style and seems to have kept this thing in good shape. I won't really know till it's infront of me. Again I'm glad I came here, you guys are reminding me of what to do. Its good to have reminders.

thats only partially true... thats what its worth to an enthusiast but the average joe doesn't know any better you can probably get 1700, 2k if you really find a sucker. about the 325is, well I'd hold out on something better that kinda money can at least get you a car in decent condition and a clean title. Cars that have been in accidents are way to quirky even if things have been fixed

I don't believe so. The average Joe is going to go and look at Blue Book Value on this car, and see that it's $900 if the car is in "good" condition and $550 in "fair condition." Considering it needs a paint job I think "good" value is pushing it.

        RISING EDGE

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Yeah, salvage title puts resale value right into the toilet.
Even if it has been repaired well, a salvage title is a pita to register under a new owner. A DMV guy has to inspect it and verify that the repairs have made the car roadworthy before they will issue a title. Even if you don't mind the 'salvage' status, it will kill your resale if you ever decide to sell, gets flagged on CarFax. I wouldn't pay anywhere near $2700 for a salvaged E30, with the possible exception of a pristine low-mileage M3.

Here's an example of the salvage market:

man listening to all these low prices...I got RIPPED off. I can't believe this. I paid 3800 for a 133k 90 325i with beat shocks and springs, a shredded thermostat, blown fuses, pieces of moulding missing, a sunroof crank that falls off, a cracking dash, a bad exhaust, a "going" front right wheel bearing, a bad ball joint, two bad tie rods, no weather mats, a damp interior, a shot 2nd gear synchro, dings in the paint, bad rear subframe mount buishings, missing wheel roundels, and ripped cloth seats. I could shoot myself.
                TAKE YOUR TIME.
                - 2000 Audi S4 Stg 2 (sold)
                - house (bought)
                - 1997 Civic Hatch (shaky but driveable)
                - 2010 Sportster 1200 Forty Eight Ed. (vroom)
                - 1991 318is S50B30 (TBA)

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that you got fucking worked, buddy.

I wouldn't have paid for than $1500- 2k for that car.

nor would I, knowing what I know now. But coming from being an ignorant E36 owner, I thought E30's were supposed to be shitty like that. Boyw as I wrong, it's now one of the best cars I've ever driven and it still holds a lot of those terrible qualities I mentioned
