Don't forget the late model taillights are bigger than the early, meaning less space between the bottom of the tails and the top of the bumper. So he would have had to weld in a whole new rear end to make it look right (which it seems to).
Also, is there such thing as a non- "is" 2-door 325i in '87? I didn't think they made those until later (89 or 90).
How about checking the build date on the inside of the driver's door jamb.sigpic

To figure out what it is, I would check the door frame if the sticker is still there. There is no way they replaced that. lol. I could see them changing out the dash, and then by some way, the vin on the title matching the dash. The lights are not ellipsoids, which come with the plastics on 325's. So something is fishy.-tim

Doors can be changed theres a vin under the hood that cant be changed its staped on the body under the window. You have to look between the seal for the hood and the window. sjhould be right below the passenger side wiper. check that see if it matches and your done.
