    SSSquid Tuning M20 Maf Conversion

So the other day I finally swapped out my AFM for SSSquid Tuning's Maf Conversion Kit (MCK). I haven't driven it much but so far the throttle response is a lot better. It also seems to idle smoother. My cold start is still shit but that's another issue.

Why is your cold start crappy?
            what comes in the kit?

I think it might be my CTS. Or just the tune on the current chip I have. It's not from the Maf. Also it's not horrible, in 3 or 4 mins it settles down and idles normal.

I had a alternator over charging back during August. Plus I replaced the DME relay and fuel pump. I bought a cheap ICV which ended up grounding out my harness. Don't cheap out. But the car used to stall every time I started it in the cold. And it would take for ever to start back. I cleaned out my OE ICV real good and clean all the connections and made sure that all connections were tight. I then reset the DME which fixed all of my issues.
As of right now the car runs great. Throttle response and idle have improved (IMO). So I'm happy for now.

So I went out for a long drive today. I'm huge fan of the maf. I mean eventually I'm swapping over to ITBs. But for now the throttle response is great and it seems to excelerate a lot more smoothly. Idk if there is a power difference. Probably not but it feels a lot better. Closer to a modern car.

Thanks for the report on the MAF. I also recently installed the SSSquid MAf kit, on my m30b35 swapped e30. Using an e36 knockoff MAF. Similar results as you describe. It's a great product and I will not be going back to the afm.

How do they get "better throttle response" just from a different MAF? reacts faster than the OEM one i assume? or are they tricking the OEM ecu into adding more fuel on change in air mass flow? (bit like a throttle enrichment pump)

Better flowing and as soon as you crack the throttle there is an instant signal for air flow. Plus the SSSquid MCK has a conversion box for the signal so that the stock DME can read it.

Yeah I don't plan on going back to the AFM. I'm pleased with the MAF

Which Maf did you get? Bosch or the other brand that's on the site?
