Hey, all. Just brought home this clean little 318i cabrio and thought I would introduce myself. I'm originally from California but have settled with my family just outside of Seattle. We've owned an F31 touring for a while, but fell in love with 80s and 90s era BMWs when we were living in Germany. Ever since we got back to the States a few years ago, I've been toying with the idea of getting one to play with. I wasn't looking for a convertible, but this one was too much fun to pass up. I have lots of experience working on mid-century American cars, but don't know anything beyond changing oil and filters on these BMWs. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you.

My primary goal for this car was to get a clean driver to enjoy. I have another project car, so I don’t want to do anything that might take this one off the road. It’s completely stock- the proverbial little old lady’s Sunday church car. It’s got a plenty of nicks and stretches in the paint and bumpers that I want to clean up, and the top and driver’s seat needs some attention. The suspension could benefit from something a little beefier, but I don’t want to do anything too involved. Who know though? The motor my die on me tomorrow and force my hand. :)Originally posted by It's Soda Not Pop View PostDo you have a wishlist of stuff that you want to do? As in engine swap, suspension, etc.........

My grandfather had a 55 Belair. I'm partial to the 56 myself. The 87 C10 was my grandfathers as well. Very nice man.Originally posted by ehrawn@gmail.com View Post
57 Chevy 2 door sedan I’ve been working since I was a teenager. I’m a noobie to modern cars like E30s.

I had a 1954 Buick Special in high school. At the time (1974) I thought it was neat. The thing I love about my 1990 325i is it drives so comfortably! There’s power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. I have a newer 5 series which I also like, but the E30 has just an amazing lightness to it that you can’t get in a new car today.Originally posted by ehrawn View Post

Yes. It was a relatively easy retrofit.
You can take a red scotch brite pad with some water to freshen up the valve covers and remove the cosmoline from them.sigpic
