I don't know if I really want to go turbo. I don't need a ton of power, just a strong drivable motor that can provide some decent oomph when called upon. The main reason for any swapping/converting, is for tuning. The Kugelfischer fuel injection system is good, but you can't do anything with it to speak of.If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer.Comment

DCOEs suck to tune - as does the k-fish. For a DD I'd reccomend 2 things for moderate power - a rebuilt m10 with a 292 and a weber 38/38 or a m10 with 318i injection and megasquirt. These make more power than the tii and are more fuel efficent."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

Yea, DCOEs are a PITA, but they look f'n cool. By the time you megasquirt an m10, you might as well buy an e30.

No way - e30s don't have front vent windows. Besides, you can squirt an m10 for like 500 bucks and make pretty nice wheel HP. Truth be told it's probably cheaper than a set of 40DCOes, linkage, manifolds and a 292 cam and it makes more power. You don't however get that awesome throttle sound that makes the exhause sound wimpy.
EDIT: to clarify, a weber 38/38 will not make as much power as a tii."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

There's a guy over on 2002faq that set up an m10 with twm 40mm ITBs and a megasquirt. Sweet, but a lot of work. The thing with doing 318 injection on an m10, is that I feel like I might as well just go ahead and get the whole 318 engine and have twin cams and a plethora of options should I want to go further with it in the future. If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer.Comment

Contact JakeB about it. He's on here and the FAQ. He has a nice looking m42 2002.There's a guy over on 2002faq that set up an m10 with twm 40mm ITBs and a megasquirt. Sweet, but a lot of work.
