Drivers door had seen better days,i looked for a decent conditioned door for replacement but after few week of searchin. Decided to fix the old one,so...
My english isnt so good so i let the pics do the talking.
I dont have any photos of the painting process itself
But the car was painted in the garage, with my 2 brothers.
The whole painting process was done without "bodyshop".
But a few photos after removing the masking.
Let the body cure for few weeks,at the meantime painted the bonnet, doors, and other pieces. The pictures are at a random order, not as a timebased.
At the past few weeks(nearly a month) been finishing the paintjob and assembling doors, bumpers, and all the little stuff.Comment

Getting the desired result took a LOT of work!!
Iwata WS400
P2000 Grit wetsand by hand, the whole car
P3000 Abralon with a DA sander+Scholl S0(cutting compound) with a rotary polishing machine
S2 Orange compund
S17+ compound
Drivers side allmost ready, the finishing buffing needs to be still done when its fully assembled.

New windshield installed
All the trims and sideguards etc got a PPG:black basecoat ja DP8177 semigloss clear.
Photos are sadly taken too close because theres no room to take a long distance photos in the garage and theres a lot of snow outside so i cant take the car easily outside it would get stuck in the snow with those tires on :(
I have a pair off MHW black tails but ive been now looking the car with stock tails and i think im going to keep them on because its looking so much lighter and fresh with the shiny new red paint!
But the front end is gonna be assembled with this combo.
The original Carrot indicators and black headlights.
The interior is under assembling at the time,i got a "deadline" for this project set to Marc 18 this year.
Would of been the 30 year birthday of my friend and it would be cool to finish the E30 to his "thirties".
Rims&tires are going to change, something 17" instead of those "old" borbet 16" wheels.
Interior is going to be all black, the carpet and all off the fabric interior pieces.
I bought a 316i Design Touring at the price of 400€ just to get the the black headliner and the plastic interior trims (if you tought the tourings in U.S was rare this thing would most likely be collectable).
Sorry but im going to part it out and take all the rare pieces to this one.
Will be posting pics off the interior once it gets assembled.

Everybody who has seen this car live.
Cant stop wondering the result when you think who and where its done :D
So its proved that a dedicated and careful working can get you pretty far, even in not so good conditions.
Those wheels in the pics are not going to stay on this car,im planning some 8.5x17" and 10x17" for this one.
And the ride height, after the 17"s installed ill check it again ;)Comment

Solvent, wheel acid lots of cleaning later..
Lots of sanding polishing and other fixing.Comment

Painted the faces,carefully sandblasted
Few coats of primer
Little bit of fine sanding
for the shade of the wheel faces i wanted some platinum looking nice grey so i mixed a little pearls into one good shade of grey
Few hours of painting the basicoat& 2 coats of clear
inner barrels painted jet black with one coat of 2k acryl paint.
All parts painted took them to my home and thought that the rear wheel outer lips are good in front and rears are gettin 0,5" wider outer rings.

Brake calipers restored and painted, all the front&rear-axle parts sandblasted and painted with heavy duty "industry" paint.
Test fitted the front end parts, friend made fittings in the lathe for E36 front hubs.
Brake discs were machined too to fit with new hubs.
And because sun is getting visible and spring is coming i had to do few other projects to friends..
One nice color for a fighter GSX-R
little problems with new hubs&stock brakes+BBS
So take the "special" tool and make it fit, because i dont want to put spacers.
Now it fits nicely!
Little more job on the underside of the car needs to be done like the fuel tank has some rust issues, paint the wheel arches and make the underside look nice.
Change all the axle parts for these that i refurbished.
Wheel parts are ordered and it needs to be assembled and buy new set of 195/40/16 and 225/40/16 tyres
Wheels are going to be 7,5 & 9,5x16"
This kind of stuff this time ;)Comment

Long time no posts..
Been busy
ENJOYING THE DRIVING WITH THIS E30
Car was assembled during summer, got thru the "registration inspection" and now ive rolled over 3500km with it and everything works well.
Few photos from this summer driving season, car is soon going to go to garage wait for next summer,i dont wanna drive with it during wintertime.
From the first drives that was driven, rear was a little too high at that moment.
At the "inspection center"
Few shot from Bimmerparty
The biggest BMW event in skandinavia i think..
"Speedrace"
1/4 Mile just driven for the fun of it.. not so good time
Few driving shots taken by my neighbour(<-- that is supposed to mean the person living near me) he is so enthusiastic to photographing he wanted to take speed photos of my car.
Ill add more fotos when i can collect a bigger set with good quality, sorry for the lack of interior pictures yet.
