I think so. It's a Colgan Custom that was a gift. I rarely use it though, only if I'm going on road trips.

No, what I think he meant was to use a translucent paint on the reflective ring around the ellipsoid inside the headlight. Possibly he thought that the light still needed to use the relector on the lowbeam so a translucent paint would seem better to use than an opaque paint.

H4's are not ellipsoids :idea:

in any case, I'm torn between smoked and clear ellipsoids.. my depos will go away eventually, but I'm leaning more towards clear. But if I'm spending money on new lights, it seems like smoked would be the way to go, as they cost the same.

I know, I was just letting him know that the smoked ellips don't have any form of "tint paint" in them, less he try and tint spray his H4's and fuck up his light output. :P

Ah, fair enough. Wow, i should read more carefully. When I read his post, and he mentioned getting the lens off and using translucent paint, i figured he was just talking about painting the chrome reflectors with translucent black... haha, no wonder i couldn't figure out why he wanted to use translucent paint to paint that chrome reflector, he was talking about the lens...:tsk: Haha.. Nice catch.

first, the hi's that i wanted to paint are my rusted out spare H1s, not H4s. But thats not important.

And no, I didn't mean painting the lense - then taking the lense off the assembly would be redundant.
I meant painting the reflectors inside with translucent black. I supposed if I paint few coats of translucent black, then the reflectors would still serve its purpose.
