So,now engine bay is in this point.

tomorrow i get few gasget´s and nuts and bolts.

it´s a bit different the way it used to be.:-D

end of the week i get that new turbo and then i perhaps get this engine bay kind of a "ready".

valve cover and intake manifold is same color. picture is just "fading" it,so it looks like it´s not same color.

tomorrow paint few other smaller parts, and assembly it.

if you compare this picture to the first engine bay photo you see the difference what i have done here for now.

this is not even close to ready, but i take better pictures when i get engine bay "ready".

still to come at engine bay:

    -turbo
    -throttle body,and other small parts
    -few plastic cover´s
-new chargepipe´s (aluminium or stainless steel)
    etc..

      update this topic for now.

at evening i get new turbo. 8)
i have wait´ed it so long that you dont even believe it.

      today i got pre-polished 75mm aluminium pipe about 1.5 meter´s
and also blue silicone pipe about 130cm.
polishing in the pipe isin´t like mirror, but when i get it welded and other shit i´m gonna polish it really good.;)

or perhaps i just paint pipes black so it´s not so "show" on engine bay, because exterior is so far away "show"-style. :p

but it would be nice if even some part this car would look good.:D

someday when got time,i have to start buildin up these new gharge pipe´s.
there are so much work to even to get it welded.

have to take all old pipes of and start it all over again.

i dont have anykind of hurry with these charge pipe´s because old ones work proberly, but it´s not so good looking.

well see what kind it´s gonna be.

tomorrow i start to do new downpipe´s flange and if everything goes right maybe this week i get it running again.
it´s kind a optimistic to say so,because there are so much work to do to get it run.

i have painted the car allmost every where this satin-black paint.
      still need to paint:
      -roof
      -trunk lid
-and bonnet once again. (damn it look awful) :D

new pictures come when i get new turbo in.

all kind of backet´s been painted in engine bay.

it looks kind a smooth now, except something is still missing, but evening i get it.

so now i got new turbo and try to fit it on,but every freaking flange is wrong.

so i get back to work (off-duty) and removed exhaust manifold (dam,it was pretty tight fit with nuts on it)

after an hour i get it of and cut off old (turbo) flange.
and i did use holset´s gasget to make a new flange. i cut new flange 10mm thick metal plate, and drill holes for it.
tomorrow i make hole to the middle, and then i can weld it on.

then i have to do few modification to the wastegate, because turbos compressor outlet is so much bigger than that K24 turbo,so i have to modificate it a bit.

i hope tomorrow i get exhaust manifold ready and put it in.

at thursday i get few cover´s at engine bay witch i´m still missing.
        and whole lot of gasget´s.:)

also i ordered some covering´s in interior. there are missing few cover´s,so now i get those too.

so maybe in end of the week i get engine bay allmost "ready" for now. :)

i still have to do to get new turbo in:

-weld new flange to the exhaust manifold
-modificate wastegate to fit it with new turbo
-weld holset´s flange to the downpipe
-make new oil-lines (or try to use old ones and try to figure it out how to fit it on holset
-and other little stuff, but here´s the bigger jobs to do.

maybe next week i get to tune with megasquirt.:)

Get a Opel Vectra coil pack, that will suffice for your ignition mods, you´ll have to update your ecu to have 3 ignition outputs to run wasted.

Get bigger injectors then 450cc´s, I only managed 400hp from them at 95% duty cycle.

            thanks for the tip.:D

i havent thougth about even opel´s coil pack´s.
friend told me that we can manage with this ignition for now.
when sparks start to get weak,we have to do some serious thinking about witch parts to use on ignition.

we calculated that these 442cc will do in my car/setuo for now.

it´s so much easier to get it MOT`d (because of emissions)
and it´s easier to run it smoothier at idle than (siemens deka) 630cc injectors.

well,if injectors end at middle of boost,i need to buy bigger ones.
but then the MOT gets harder. (have to tune megasquirt at every MOT to get lower emissions, well it´s not so hard to do,but i like to avoid these kind of matters)

now i have made again new flange to the exhaust manifold, because first and second one was not so good. and turbo was wrong angle.

here is a few photos about turbo.

these pictures is first flange when turbo was in wrong angle and hight.

tomorrow i try to make it fit proberly. (once again )

well perhaps tomorrow i get it done because now i know position of turbo.
tomorrow i have to do new wastegate´s pipe also.

downpipe would fit proberly with few small mods.:D
i thought that whole downpipe needs to do all over again, but no.:) that was a nice suprise. well sometimes something goes right.;)

ps: sorry about the mess in engine bay, didin´t have time to clean thing up. :D

                update:

i havent done much for car.
have talked about my friend about new camshaft.

my friend bought a while ago ppf z45turbo camshaft for m20. and he was talking about to update it to z58 cam.

so i think i´m gonna buy that z45turbo camshaft for my friend.

                camshaft specs:

                -280 degrees
                -11mm lift
                -112degree "nose-angle"

and i bought this camshaft for mu buddy i install also b25 double valve-springs at my b20 cylinder-head.:p

in few weeks i found out that is my buddy buying new camshaft.

now it´s been confirmed that i "build up" this m20b20 engine at winter.:)

some engine mods for the winter.

                -new bearings everywhere
-make "flame-ring" track for the block (to prevent friction at gasget to not to move/swell out)
-original cylinder-head gasget (works perfectly at this "flame-ring" modification)
-new camshaft (i hope it´s gonna be this ppf z45 turbo)
-do some "digging" in cylinder-head (to flow better)
                -b25 double valve-springs
                -new exhaust manifold
(-perhaps make my own intake manifold at aluminium)
and whole lot of smaller modifications. :)
but here is the biggest mods.

maybe this list is gonna change a bit, here is what now it looks like it.

                here´s a new`est engine bay photo.

i have been working so much for now,so i dont have time to this project at all.

and i bought BBS rt 701(?) splitt rims, and all my "waste" time i have been working with these wheels.
first i take center of wheels a part and clear every nut and bolt and now i have to take it to sand-blast.
then i take all paint of center of wheels and all clear-coat "edge" of rims.
when i got clear-coat off i take 600 sandpaper and lots of water and started to sand wheels.:)

here´s one shitty picture about rims after i sanded it that 600 paper and soap-water.

i have to sand it still 800 and 1200 papers and then polished it AutoGlym`s metal polish paste. and i think it´s gonna be really smooth.

and i bought these wheels because its a split rims and most of all BBS. well, not quite a prettiest type of bbs models, but well do for me.:D
and because ET28 and only 8" wide, they would fit original fenders when i change 5-lug for my car.

                wheels specs:

                BBS RT 701(?)
                ET 28
                5x120
                8x17"
                215/40 17r Goodyears

tires are good shape, but i think they well disappear smoke on the wind after car runs.:p

                  let´s up this for a while.:D

it´s been so busy at work that i didint have time to my project allmost at all at winter.

few weeks ago i continued this project when my buddy asked me if i want to start working my car at his garage.

at that same evening we toed my car to his garage and started to work about it.

several night´s i worked my car and hi worked his (e23 745i ) and then i sayed to him lets try to fired it up.:D

first i take turbos oil off,to see if it got any oil pressure/it can lift oil to the turbo and then i put it back on and started to fire it up.

well, ofcourse it didint fire up because of my luck.
we started to measure all cables and we did follow that failure to the engine management.
so ECU went to my friend who did find out that i got one inginiton-transistor which it burned. so he replace it with new and say now it will start.

back to the carage and try to fired it up,and "holy-shit" it really started.:D

my other friend adjust couple nights ECU and then we get to drive it.

turbo spools about 3900rpm and at 4700rpm it just dies like there is rpm-limiter,but there is`int nothing like that on at ECU.
and for now we dont have nothing clue where is a problem.

we made new wiring to whole engine bay,and probably today or tomorrow we get to started it again.
hope somewhere there was the problem.

3900rpm-4700rpm was 1bar boost, and i could say that it is going to be probably "one hell of lot" toy when wet get 0.5bar more boost.:p

here is one picture before i did paint the engine-bay.
i try to remember to take pictures today at garage for engine-bay.

next move is to get rid off that fiberglass front bumber (cracked everywhere)

i ordered both new front fenders and i got allready allmost perfect shape front panel and bumber.

so i try to make it look as original i can at outside.:D
at some point i try to change color for that satin-black to satin-white and front doors gonna have lucky-strike logos for it.
well this is just one vision for this.

at interiour i just did change perfect shape M-tech II steering wheel and i try to sell these ford´s recaro seats and try to find perfect shape original sport seats.

i try to upload this thread more often now.:D

                    update for a while.:)

so last thursday i blowed out my head gasget.:)

i could say that at 1.bar boost it runs pretty good.
i have build it about last autumn and i get to drive it allmost 11 miles. :p

well i know it earlier that gasget´s gonna blow at any time.
so we tune up ECU for a while and i started to boost it and i take 3-gear allmost at the end and changed to 4-gear and after about 6 seconds after i felt small twich and i lift gas and i watched rear-wiew mirror and hell-of-a-lot smoke came out. i know instatly that gasget has blown.

now i have good reason to make some mods for the block.

here´s one shitty picture after i blown the gasget. (that´s why hood is open)
(quite much better look these original facelift parts than that tear up M-3 bumber)
EDIT: i know i need some spacers for the rear-end

                    http://a.imageshack.us/img576/7753/05082010315.jpg

i update this when i get something to do with beemer.
i got all new parts,i just have to turn in a lathe one nylon bush and my tool is ready. (got some measurement failure before)

me and my buddy did those "flame-ring tracks" on block and maybe tomorrow i got time to start building it up again.

here´s one shitty picture about those tracks on block.

and you dont have to mention about that steel shit on top of piston.:p
i will clean it up for good tomorrow.

                            Why 2.0 and not 2.5

                            Hi there,

I wanted to ask why you decided to stick with the M20B20 and not the B25?
Is there any advantage to using the 2.0 liter engine over the 2.5 liter engine?

Where I live the 2.5 is very rare, so I have been looking at buying a 320i, but was going to import a 2.5 engine to then turbo. But if the B20 engine works well with turbo swaps, then I guess I can save a lot of time and money by keeping the 2.0 liter engine.

Any comments you have would be great.

here the M20B25 is also rare, so a nice option is to source a M52B28 crank, bore out the cylinder to +2mm to 82mm. Then you got a 82x84 M20, thats about 2.66ltrs, nice improvement over the 2ltr. you can keep the stock 130mm conrods from the M20B20, or go for a lighter and longer 135mm from a more recent model (while you are getting the M52B28 crank, you could get the conrods too ...). the longer rods will improve the stroke to rod ratio.

You will need custom pistons though ...
