      Annnnd, we're back. Got a bit done in the last couple of days. Sprayed down the rust spots. Hope to get a better shot at it, when I go underneath the car to do the suspension and bushings. Also layed out the cruise control setup. Then it was time to get busy.

      Carpet and rear panels in. Rear seat is from a sedan. Will do for now. Have a lead on a leather black rear seat from a coupe. Hoping to hear back from them soon. I have the rear carpet for the sedan in grey/black as well. But decided not to worry about it for now. Either I get a coupes rear seat soon, or I will then change the rear carpet. Isn't hard, or time consuming. Obviously, completely intend on getting a coupe rear seat at some point.

      Didn't really have a ton of time to spend on the car today, but just couldn't stop once the carpet was in. Thus, by the time I left for dinner:




      Have some loose ends to time up yet. But it is pretty much all in. Tomorrow, will spend time on the sport seats when I get a chance. Then, Saturday will be spent working on the doors and door cards to fit the JL 6.5s. At that point, will probably put the car up in the air, and get started on all the bushings, brakes and other maintenance going on under the car, while I wait for Luke's box to show up. :D

            Most of the interior is in, now. Got the split seam on the drivers seat sewn up, and cleaned and conditioned both. Came out pretty good.



            Will have more shots later.

            Spent Sat. at the yards and working on the doors to fit the speakers. Ran into a snag with the doors. Apparently, the JLs I have are a bit deep, and hit the window while in the down position. I have some 1/2" spacer rings on the way. Will see if I can mount them behind the panel, and still get enough clearance. Will look less bulky that way.

            Was looking for a black coupe rear seat at the yard. No dice, but did find a few volvos. Sorry for those that loathe volvo lips, but I needed something. And with all the cash I am dropping on other things for the car right now, an IS lip will have to wait. $9 for a volvo lip, I can handle. Will see what I can do with a heat gun, to make it look as good as possible.

              Well, its been awhile since the last update. Put whats left of the interior on hold, and started on the bottom side of the car. Time to replace bushings and other wear items. This should be fun.

              Some of the parts I had waiting: New sub frame bushings, TA bushings, control arms, tie rods, CABs, front lip (yes, a Volvo front lip), and stud kit from Volshlag.



              What is not in the picture is the flex disk, CSB, and new rotors, replacement CV joints, and a 3.73 dif. (Want better highway gearing)

              Let me just say now that I hate rust. It makes life suck. Due to our good buddy rust, here, I will also be ordering new rear calipers, a new parking brake cable for one side (if I get the end off of the metal tube above the sub frame), and new parking brake hardware for both sides.

              Rust also made dropping the sub frame a buuuunch of fun. Had to air chisel out the inner sleeve of the sub frame bushing. Will have to go back and chisel out the remainder of said sleeve this weekend. Fun.

              On to a few pics. Here is the drive shaft. I think ordering the new CSB was a good idea.



              The only things going back in the car from this picture are the trailing arms, and the hubs. Sub frame, dif, rear calipers and axles will be replaced.



              This should be a good time:



              Hope to have the axles out, trailing arms removed, remainder of center sleeve and drivers side parking brake cable removed, and everything ready to go back in by the end of the weekend. If my cold cooperates. Yay being sick.

                      That's the good news. Bad news is, the brand new CSB I bought is now trash thanks to putting it on too far, and having to try and pull it back out a bit. Stupid mistake that will cost me time and money, neither of which I am too happy about. Oh, well. Live and learn.

                          Good question. We were tapping it on using a like diameter tube (jack handle), and ended up a MM or so behind the recess for the clip. Apparently, that is far enough to cause the bearing to no longer turn. Once back off, bearing was fine. :roll: But the rubber tore, trying to move it back. My mistake, but I would have never guessed it would have even been able too go to far.

                            Properly restoring E30's is a royal pain. Doesn't really matter how nice they are, there is always things that go wrong. The good new is. once all is well again and the car is back together it will be one heck of a nice ride and will all seem worth it. Even better still, you'll know there isn't much left that could need attention so you'll have a well sorted, reliable, fun, and good looking DD.

                            It will all be worth it in the end.
