sarcasm my friend, people on here use it frequently.

Yes, ALL E30's are RWD. ALL E30's are either 4 cyl, or 6 cyl, but never a V6.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inline-six_engine They actually have a picture of the BMW 325 engine on this page lol

Not all 6 cylinder engines in the world are gay, some are straight.

Inline 4 in the 318 318i 318is and Inline 6 in the 325 325e 325es 325i 325is 325ic 325ix , pretty simple (well, there were also rare 320 and 323 cars too, inline 6 as well). All are RWD except the iX (awd).

YOU will be converted to a believer in RWD. You will hate FWD (like your Sentra).

Thank you for you all's answers tho:d Yeah after I joined forum I did spend sometimes to do some research, but I couldn't find the major problem plus too many infos which have no clue where to start at looking.Anyway cool thing is now i know what the hell 6cyl is which is not a v6.....
Very interesting seeing inline 6cyls, but why 4cyl is a better engine than 6cyl?

that specific 4cyl in that car i linked you to is the M42 engine, which has 134 hp, redlines at 6500 rpm, has 4 valves per cylinder, and a timing chain.

That specific 6cyl (straight six) in that car you were originally looking at is called the "eta" engine, M20B27 to be exact, which only has 121 hp and redlines at like 4500 rpm (or 5500 i forget), has 2 valves per cylinder, and has a timing belt (that can break) and is built for fuel economy, yet the M42 (4cyl) gets the same or better gas mileage.

the 325i, or 325is, on the other hand, (as opposed to the 325e or 325es) has the straight six M20B25 motor which has 168 hp and redlines at 6500 rpm, also with 2 valves per cyl and a timing belt.

there. just saved you some searching.

E30's are awesome cars. Compared to most on here, I too am a n00b with BMW's.
They are fantastic cars. E30's are great b/c they give you the bimmer experience for not that expensive...well usually...

                              no prob..

Just make sure you get more info on why that car is "running rough", do a thorough rust search, make sure it shifts well, accelerates and drives smoothly, no clunks from the subframe, make sure it doesn't overheat, make sure the heat works, make sure the exhaust doesn't put out tons of smoke, you know, all the common sense stuff, and report back here. If you have a camera, take pics and post here if you want more help on what the car is worth.

                                (4 vs 6). ;-)
