Update: So took my car to the car wash today, Was driving with my dad when all of a sudden the speedometer just stopped working. Bummer gonna need a new one probably. So the car has even less get up and go than a stock eta, I'm thinking it either needs a tune up or their is a clog somewhere in the exhaust. I'll probably end up messing around and running straight pipes as a joke ;). So this weekend I decided before I spend a shitload of cash into the car I'm just gonna mess around with it and pretty much do all those free cheapskate mods. Tucking the bumpers, tune up, all that other fun stuff. Next update on sunday which is when I get to work on the car in peace with my dad.Last edited by trackjunkie21; 02-15-2010, 08:44 AM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Update: so today I get a visitor in a brown suit at my front door. The UPS guy. He handed me my new headunit. It's a Alpine cda 9883, got it off ebay for a good price. So now tomorrow it's going in the car. Is this a pretty straight forward install? Since this is a much newer head unit and the oem wiring is so old i was just wondering. Any who here are some pics.
One last question. Do I need a special connector for my ipod? There is an auxiliary port in the back. If so where can i get this connector? Sorry i'm not too good with computers and electronic stuffYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

So I got the radio in today, I'm impressed how the 24 year old speakers hold up. They actually sound decent. I just installed it temporarily because very soon I'm getting the ipod adapter and I have to take out the head unit.
The bracket was too small for the hole in the dash so I had to custom fit the ALPINE mount into the stock bmw mount.
So I had to cut the back portion off because the heat sink on the back was too big. That was no problem, grinding the back off and then mounting it.
Finished :)
So then everything is installed no problem, stereo sounds awesome. But I proceed to leave the car and my OBC just decides to not work anymore. Blahh now i have another little thing to do next weekend. That and bumper tuck and other bits ;).Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

tuck the bumpers...ditch the fogs, convert to a getrag 5speed, slam it..then a 2.7i stroker plus boost! sounds like a good order of events for the car.
btw you commented on my youtube video...and it is straightpipe to a thrush glasspack, like 25inches. that was only temp. due to the fact they burn out quickly. i then just put on a stock oem replacement walker muffler from wallmart and a nice 3in. tip tucked up to the bumper...sounded good. no drone, nice a deep
however i had the car lowered on some vogtland springs and modified hats...and well after around 60k miles on that setup i finally smashed the pan. so the car sits now at my shop while i show my fc3s some lovin! so if you need some vogtland springs ill make you a hell of a deal. i had 195/60/14's flush almost tuckin in the front, and the 205/65/14's fit nicely in the rear. good stancesigpic

So today I didn't get too much work done because my dads shop was busy and he was busy working on the Sequoia putting in hearest monitors and I was helping with the install. So I got the new hazard light switch, The old one was faulty and only worked when it wanted to.
And the new ipod adapter came in the mail. Got a little nervous cause I connected it and it wasn't working, So I got all frustrated and somehow it just decided to work.
So now I have my own music in my own carSo the funniest thing happened afterward. Some lady came to tank up her honda Accord at the station. When she was pulling away one of her exhaust tips just fell off.
So my dad being the genius attaches it to my car
It doesn't look half bad at certain angles but I am DEFINITELY not keeping it.
Then I decided to just take some random pictures of the car since I wasn't doing anything anyways.
Also I'll post up a soundclip later today.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

So here's a little update, the car is finally sitting in my driveway, I have decided to take it easy and first take care of more of the preventative maintenance. I never really finished the tuneup fully just replaced the plugs and wires, The car needs new pads and I have no idea when the timing belt was done nor do I know about the water pump. So if you guy's didn't know I am 16 and just this weekend I'm starting to work so I can afford all that I need for the carFeels good man. This week I have put the whole dashboard back together, replaced the sway bar links and bushings and the light bar for the OBC finally came in. More updates on Sunday.

Thanks guys for the support, heres another little update, the east coast is getting hit pretty hard with snow as we speak, it started at about 11 last night and got about 6 inches of snow as of now, we are supposed to get hit even harder in about an hour. 18 inches of snow.
So it was time to take pics of the car sitting in the snow haha.
The snow didn't even start yet yesterday, I'm sitting in auto class and the principal comes on the loud speaker telling us school is cancelled, so today was a decent snow day. I haven't been able to work on the car as much because I finally got a job so I can maintain this car and i work all weekend. It's pretty tiring but to me it's 100% worth it.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
