My 86 325e

Great thread, keep up the good work! Its funny, but when I was in HS I bought a nearly identical car to yours (86 325eta, 2 door and 5 spd though) and was able to pay for everything myself as well. All your hard work will pay off, and in the end you'll have a car you appreciate 100x more than the kids who are just given their cars.

I still own mine, 8 years later, and I still love it.

I honestly rather buy my own stuff, Makes me feel much better, all my friends laugh and stuff since there spoiled. But I just turn around and say that you guys take the bus to school. I'll be the one laughing when they need a ride somewhere ;)

Well this week I got nothing done at all, I took a trip with the family to belleayre ski resort, stayed there for 3 days and went skiing with the bro and my father. Now it's time to invest in a new suspension and ellipsoids, will have more updates next week ;)

Well Heres another personal update, sorry it's taking so long to actually get an update regarding the actual car. Well I finally got the debit card set up a paypal and ebay account and now that cash is coming my way i'll have something every weekend again. I'm debating whether to go with ellipsoids or with Hella 5 3/4 H1/H4 replacements. Also coming soon is a IS rear spoiler and an Mtech1 wheel. I'm trying to find a 370mm instead of the 380mm but I guess that will do.

So we got another batch of snow today, which caused school's in NYC to be closed down once more. So as I was trying to dig my car out I decided since I ordered a new grill, Euro ellipsoids for a good deal from a fellow R3V member, and an HID kit I can start focusing on the interior since it needs some work. I installed my headunit a while back but it wasn't so flush and it bothered the crap out of me. So decided to take some of this sticky ruber tape sort of stuff and wrap it around the edge as a temporary fix until it gets warm out which is when i'll fix it for good.

So I proceded to wrap it around the headunit and actually didn't come out too bad.

Then I addressed the backlight in the OBC, Not only did it go out I wanted it a bit brighter so my dad soldered on 2 brighter bulbs and I inserted the light bar back in.

So now I made a checklist of stuff that absolutely bothers me and needs replacing ASAP. The underpanel under the steering wheel is cracked in half and is held on by electrical tape

I also think I need a new steering wheel, Not only is it hideous to me but it looks like a blind person just took leather and stitched it over the original steering wheel.Case in point:


An MtechI wheel or a nice looking Momo will do the trick;). That's about it for today, As soon as the weather warms up I plan to pull out the floor matts from the trunk soak them in tuff stuff. vacuum the whole interior and wax up the car. I also need to find a nice IS lip spoiler.

Look what came in the mail today :). dollar well spent. I'm debating on whether to paint it black or leave it chrome. Also is there anyway to get the minor dents out?

So it was about 50 degrees outside today so decided I would take the floormats out of my trunk and vacuum them. Tomorrow I will have the whole interior vacuumed and washed. So anyway These were the floormats before i cleaned them:

Also I don't know why I have so much floor mats. Can anyone tell me what the other ones are for?

and here is after I vacuumed them. It's cool how only a vacuum can make a big difference.

I already have my weapons of choice set up for tomorrow

So afterwards helped my dad clean out the garage and checkout what I found.

Cleaned the car up today. Cleaned up the floormats and vacuumed the interior and all. brings the car back to life.

here's a little pic of the freshened up interior. The seats are really killing it and I need to do something about it.


The worst part is the mtech wheel and the headlights are supposed to be here about tomorrow so now i'm gonna have to wait till next weekend to mount them :(

Nice car. I also own a 86 325 for my very first car and it needs work but like you I'm out everyday pouring my time into it. Keep up the good work. I'm thinking i will start documenting my restoration. Maybe we should start an 86 325 restoration thread. Mines not an 325e although from what I've read they only vary slightly in a few mechanical components.
