That's the whole point. To get rid of all the old shitty wax.

Part of getting proper depth, is to get back down to the base as most non-evasively as possible.

+1 Its the best wax I've used on my car, even when I don't notice my car is looking a little faded, I apply this and it always seems to get a few shades darker red.

dish soap is as evasive as it gets for automotive paint... maybe on a car that hasnt been washed and is covered in wax, but a car that gets cleaned often doesnt have 'old shitty wax'
its not like car wash soap is the cost of gold, its fuckin cheap.

sure ill do a writeup for water spots on glass, its really easy actually. but right now i gotta go take care of business, so ill do it later.

I wasn't implying that you should wash your car with dish soap every weekend...
            Only just the one time.
It has worked the best for me, (better than car wash soap) for getting rid of bug jerky, bird shit, and silicone on the paint.
I've been detailing cars for over 24 years, and it's been a great method in extreme cases like the cars above..^^^

When you want to really start over with the paint, car wash soap doesn't cut it.

use a soap made for washing cars....

                Looking real good man.
I've used paintscratch before, great stuff.
They match the original paint, so it might not match perfectly.
I had a car that had faded quite a bit, and mentioned to them my woes of the mis-match.
They promptly sent out another batch that was slightly altered to match the faded car.

I will be placing another order from them soon actually.

                  Which you DO want to...

If you like proper depth, and clarity in the finish.
This is vital for red, or black cars.

What is the model # of the Porter Cable I should buy? Random orbital, correct? Gettin' low on Zymol Carbon--sounds like I should try this Meguiar's Tech Wax.

Random orbital is the best, so you don't burn through the paint.

Usually a 6 inch pad is the best for better accessibility, and look for one with an adjustable handle if possible.

You might find one cheaper out there somewhere, but Griot's has one for 129 bucks.
                      Multi-speed, adjustable handle etc.etc.etc...

porter cable d/a is what i assumed we were talking about? its a random orbital, variable speed tool for a 6" pad. at least my model is.

i understand what your saying with the dish soap, being in socal working at high end shopping malls and shit, there not a whole lot of need to do that kind of work. i have done that kind of work, on my own car even(2-stage paint), but i usually charge a ton so i scrub out every crack when i wash it, which is usually twice. honestly i havent done a whole lot of single stage paint, so im not as fimiliar with it on all the colours...
also when i get cars that bad, i usually use my high-speed polisher first.

my heads not been clear lately and ive been in a bad mood, im 3 days in to quitting cigarettes.... :wgaf:

I clay, use 3M compound for buffing, then go to mother's sealer and glaze (which is pretty decent), then multiple coats of meguiars gold class paste wax. A few coats 3-4 of the gold class paste wax lasted me about 3-4 months before it started fading again.
