how about no. diving boards, AKA 5mph bumpers, are meant to reduce damage at low speeds. if you bump into somebody at 5mph, nothing will happen; the bumper shocks absorb the impact. if you hit a tree at 50mph, the bumper will snap like a toothpick; the shocks aren't really part of the equasion.

Wrong. My bumpers were tucked, and they absorbed the impact of my accident (head-on into Honda Accord @ 55 mph) just fine.
I suffered only a fractured sternum (from hitting the steering wheel) and tweaked ankle / knee. I seriously doubt an E30 with un-tucked bumpers would look much different in the same accident.

                  Yow...

Sorry to hear about your car. Atleast you weren't severly hurt.

Josh - That is a very sad looking E30, sternum though? Ouch.

Umm...no offense...but that doesn't look like your car...?

The driver seat is a normal e30 seat, the "before" picture shows a Corbeau Seat.

Next, the wrecked car has the lower black front addon thing with little brake ducts. Your before picture shows an "iS" front spoiler. Car's with an iS front spoiler don't have that black peice.

Also, the wrecked car has a pinstripe, but your before picture does not.

If I'm wrong, I apologize for being rude and hope you're ok, but honestly, I don't think that's your car.

Check the three stickers in the lower portion of the driver's side wind shield...

...maybe he needed to make rent and sold the corbeau?

Wow, good luck with the recovery, both physically and behind the wheel. I know it can be unnerving to get back into the scene after something like this has happened.
I liked the look of that car too, oddly enough

Extremely sorry to hear about this. I hope you recover quickly and get back into the swing of things soon.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

                                Jesus, everythings so twisted.

You are lucky, buy a lotto ticket.

                                Good luck healing.

Non tucked bumpers would not have helped. Above 5mph, even 10mph those little shocks are not gonna do much but delay the inevetiable.

                                Sold it.
