Get a set of plastic bumpers...save the diving boards for when you decide to sell the car. It's an 88 so it's a plug and play swap.

Listen to the OG's in this thread...
Keep it clean and simple and you will be admired.
Plastics + Is lip + ACS wheels + small euro bits = Perfection.

      Nice paint job.

^ looks good, sort of, everytime i see early us bumpers i picture the shrouds as
a mouth spitting out the bumper, they just seem akward to me.

if i had an early model, and cash to spare i'd go euro bumpers

Yeah I have read shit about euro bumpers and was wondering, is it a whole new bumper or is it just a center insert and how much does a front/rear run you? And do people generally drill their bumper shocks on these setups to push them in more? thanks

Definitely leave the rockers black. If you paint them red, your car will give off the sense that it had a quick-hack paint job. I wouldn't paint the bumper surrounds either.

Right now, your car looks the way it rolled off the assembly line (minus front lip) in 1988. If you were to sell it today, it would fetch a premium among the purists.

Sometimes, less is more....just my 2 cents.
YES!! I couldn't have said it better myself.

You can't put euro bumpers on an '88, it has a late-model body. Only plastics are a direct swap.

Don't leave the diving boards, they look terrible. Here's some inspiration:
