No he was right, the OP loves BMW autos so much that he wants his S14 powered cabby to be automatic as well. Why mess with a good thing?

On nice days I choose to drive my E30 318is over the 420WHP E36 I have. The E30 is just so much more fun to drive and you don't have to worry about the interior falling apart like E36's.

My mistake, I thought such a thing was surely impossible for someone to want. An S14 cabby automatic? Really?

While the e30 chassis is amazing and everything the e36 chassis is better. they both share their problems. It's just a fact the e36 has a better suspension design and you can't really argue with that. I'd still rather drive an e30 for the fun factor, but if us e36 "m3s" came with a real s50b30 or s50b32 I'd deffinatly want to own one.

This thread is so good. Almost 20 pages and all we've heard about progress is structuraly weakening the car to make it lighter and some fabrication of an automatic s14 tranny:o

And nm guy, when you go to compare an e30 with an s52 swap to an e36 m3, you cant give the e36 a bunch of bolt ons and call it fair. They are trying to say that an e30 set up with an s52 would be faster than an e36 with an s52.

Because the cost will be nearly the same. Same money spent on the E30 with swap vs E36 M3 and the E30 comes out ahead.

There are obviously a lot of which is faster and what is better arguments here that could take days to sort out. At least we can all agree that this automatic, "Individual", E36 "M3", marketing masterpiece is not a real M3. I'm glad we can put that to rest.

Judging by his current M3 picture, I cannot wait to see this E30 finished up. Especially when a powerhouse builder like this guy gets his hands on it.

I like the yellow and blue roundel. Its subtle and adds a nice touch of class to an otherwise bland car. Bravo.
